In the heavy rain water gets into the passenger side footwell, the heaters not working well so I guess it's related...any ideas? Read more
Hey all, going to be rebuilding the 250 I6 from my 67 impala soon. It has 70k miles on it and is all original. Is this a "beginner friendly" engine to rebuild? I've never done one before. It has the stock carb, intake, exhaust, all that which I plan to rebuild all that and keep it original. But, as far as internals go, what should I do? It runs well as is. Did cars in 1967 still run on leaded gas? If so, what do I need to do to convert it over to unleaded? What about the crankshaft, you're supposed to use zinc additive to protect the lobes or something, is there anything I can do about that? Should I pull it completely apart and have it machined and oil tanked and everything or should I just re-gasket and clean everything up? I wouldn't mind upgrading pistons/rods/whatever else to get a tiny bit more power but it's not super important. Any advice and resources and reading materials are appreciated. Thanks all

To Avant - perhaps the IT boffins can add in a new 'rule' so that new members cannot post any comments on the forum or News articles/HJ's column with hyperlinks for the first (say) 10 comment posts. Then at least it can be reasonably gauaged whether they are a spammer with nothing useful to say or a genuine person....

If you had it disabled it would need to be reported to your insurer, who might load your premium but would more likely refuse to cover you as a result.
If you didn't tell them and the worse happened, and they find out (as they would) the system had been deliberately disabled, you could be financially reduced to potless for life as a result of the insurer washing their hands of you. Read more
Indeed - for some reason many spammers doing the set-up (copy 'n' paste) post like to put in two commas on one of their sentences.
That's only half truth. Batteries degrade 1%/year by simply existing only.
Also Tesla has the best chemistry in their batteries in terms of durability and reliability. All other EV have different chemistry compared to tesla-panasonic. All will degrade faster than Tesla Read more
Just a small detail. I believe that the wording of the Nissan 8-year EV battery guarantee is carefully crafted.
If the battery power goes below 85% Nissan retains the option to only replace sufficient cells to bring the power up above 85%. This is clearly NOT a "full battery replacement."

The primary responsibility clearly rests with the driver of the car that crashed, but the article says he was too severely injured to be charged....
I'm looking to buy a newish second hand qashqui automatic. There's rather a hugh price difference between the pre-2018 models with the old CVT/Xtronic gearboxes and the new DVT gearboxes. I've had a CVT qashqui before and didn't mind it, though I gather its not terribly highly thought of by car enthusiasts. I'm not really an enthusiast, just looking for a reliable, comfortable car that gets me and my kids from A-B. Just wondering whether the consensus was that it's worth paying the extra for the DVT gearbox or not? Read more
Seat comfort is absoutely vital, especially if you have a back problem. If the Qashqai is the only car you're comfortable in, then that's what you should get. A further advantage is that you don't have to climb either up or down into it to get in and out.
Get as new a Qashqai as you can afford - ex-demo perhaps? - so that you have plenty of warranty remaining. And you need to make sure that the actual car you buy has the same seats as the one you've sat in already.
Could be a jammed actuator in the heater system not moving a flap to the "hot" position.
Could also be something mechanical like blocked heater matrix, air lock in cooling system, failing water pump etc....
