The correct code for your radio should be: 6432

The word "Please" included in your request would have been very much appreciated!

Which one is the latest sports car in Uk and is it possible to get the car loan on that? Read more

oldroverboy.

Very odd combination of questions. It is almost like you don't care what sports car you drive so long as it is the latest. As for the loan, only you can answer that, i don't know your credit rating.

badbusdriver, I like your reply to the posted question....

Braking Bad.

Unless you are travelling on unusually gritty surfaces, the chances are its high frequency vibration of the pads causing the squealing, it's not usually the pad vibrating against the disc, but the pad vibrating against the piston or sometimes the edges of the pad backing plates rubbing on the edges of the caliper.

The pads need to come out (highly likely the dealer only squirted brake cleaner at them) and be inspected, upon which there will probably be a shiny section or two to show where this high frequency rubbing is taking place, the answer is a proper clean up followed by the application of the correct brake grease on those parts.

Many mechanics give a wipe of coppaslip on the back of pads when they are fitted, this helps but coppaslip isn't good for rubber dust boots if it comes into contact over a long period, hence correct brake grease is better which doesn't affect rubber.

Whilst the pads are out its a good opportunity to generally lube where necessary all pads, sliders, pistons etc, as well as wipe of normal grease on exposed corrosion prone brake pipes, something that should be done at least every other year, a service most maker's dealers don't perform (unless you are a home mechanic i'd always suggest a trusted indy for such tasks), done properly will see calipers last the life of the vehicle as well as keep the braking system efficient. The previous paragraph talked about putting brake grease on the back of the pads though.

A Subaru Outback might also be a good option. Proper 4 wheel drive, a decent sized boot and a bit individual as well.

Many people myself included have been using plug-in hybrid and electric cars for a number of years now. Having previously owned an F11 535d and a Lexus 450h amongst other lesser cars I would never consider going back to fossil fuel. I get the argument they don't work for long journeys, but this is only true of some EV's and does not apply to any PHEV.
There is simply no comparison to the way an EV drives - plus from an engineering perspective electric drive makes so much more sense. Of course with development of batteries deliberately stunted by big-oil etc for decades the battery tech has to catch up. We've already witnessed more than doubling of power density in 5 years so this is improving rapidly. But more importantly EV's can and do work for so many people TODAY.

Finally the environmental concerns are totally misplaced, all the 'concerns' about battery recycling, mining/raw materials etc are based on assumptions not an examination of the countless detailed studies into this - the overwhelming majority of which conclude EV's are ESSENTIAL to solving pollution and simialrly for reducing climate change.

These engines (I have had one for 10 years) benefit from fresh oil and filter about every 8000 miles. The handbook probably says 12,000.

Can you believe it used to say 20,000 !

Hi all I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what I can do...

I have a 2002 ford KA with central locking but bought it without the remote central locking key all I have is the spare key which is the master key with the red dot, it doesn't work very well either meaning it locks the car fine in both passengers and drivers doors but when unlocking the car the drivers door doesn't work only the passenger door let's me unlock, so I was wondering if I buy a replacement central locking key fob suitable for my car will i be able to program this fob just to unlock the car? I know I won't be able to use the actual key to start the engine or in the doors but I was hoping I can get the fob programmed to remotely unlock the car and just carry on using the original master spare key for the ignition so basically have 2 keys one as just a fob and one to start the car?? Thanks! Read more

You would be better off buying an aftermarket remote locking kit ( about £10) and getting that fitted . That way you will have 2 remote lock/unlock fobs .

This one is in the tread area.

I've been driving more on mountain roads lately and these often have a rather poor surface due to landslip and typhoon damage, but the tyre has some dodgy-looking cracks in the tread grooves and could just have aged out. ...

It probably just needs adjusting. If you remove the handbrake lever rubber boot you will see in the depths a small nut, 10mm I think, which tightens up the cables. You'll probably need a box spanner or socket extension to get at it. I've had to do it once in our Focus's lifetime - 19yrs/142,000 miles. Have a look on u-tube to see how.
