Hi,
I bought a car a few weeks ago from a dealer on Ebay. Paid full price and it came with 6 months warranty. Within a week I had a runaway diesel engine so the car was rendered useless. I got it back to the dealer to repair under warranty and he won't fix it, just keeps making excuses. So as it's under 6 months for the sale I've rejected the car in writing and asked for a full refund and left it at his premises. I definitely don't want the car back.... Read more
Nothing deleted, Bromp. I've just put some of the link into a second line, as otherwise the margin becomes too wide and adverts encroach on the text.
Hello,
I have recently purchased a 2004 golf GT TDI 2.0.
I am having real issues with the inside of the cabin misting up badly, the windows become soaking wet in a matter of seconds. It then becomes really difficult to clear, no matter with the blowers on full heat or cold. If you wipe the windows with a cloth they must up again almost instantly.
The inside of the car doesn’t appear to be wet, have checked all the carpets, footwells and in the boot, all dry. I have checked the pollen filter, looks almost new.
I also feel the blowers/ heating-cooling system doesn’t work correctly, the temperature coming out doesn’t always match the setting and the blowers don’t seem to work as they should. For example when I trying to clear the windscreen they do not come on full blast most of the time unless I squirt the washer jets for a few seconds or if I put the car in reverse?? On a couple of occasions the blowers appear to have stopped working altogether. There is the occasional bad smell also, like the air con system needs cleaning, but only on the odd occasion.
The car has dual climate control with the the econ button.
When the I have managed to get the windows clear, I can go along fine for some time, then all of a sudden you feel the air change within the car and windows will mist up very quickly.
Any ideas?? Read more
Today I checked under the wipers, not much in the way of leaves/debris to speak of, but cleared what was there. Checked pollen filter again, bone dry and clean.
I also checked the recirculating flap behind the glove box and this is working correctly.
I did a 200 mile round trip last night, on the way there, any signs of the misting up starting i blasted it on Low and the screen cleared quickly like I believe it should if everything is in order, although on one occasion there was nothing that could be done, could hardly see out of the windows and didn’t clear on any setting i tried. Wiped glass with a cloth which became saturated, and the windows would mist up virtually as quickly as I could wipe them. Windows open in the end and I think on high heat and 10 mins later I could see again (this was driving down the motorway).
On the way home (same journey and outside temp), as I was pulling away the windows began to mist again so I thought I would try to see if turning the recirculating button to ON made any difference and all the way home, no issues at all, think the settings were on 3 lights for blower speed and about 22 degrees. Might just be a coincidence.
Does anyone know where I can find a free code generator online please?

No need to look elsewhere.
The S/N V045937 should have the code...
Hi, I would like to get a spare key cut for my friend so she could have access to my car. I was looking at having just the blade cut with no electronics. Would this set the alarm off every time it was opened? She doesn't need to drive the car, just be able to put stuff in and out.
Thanks Read more
No alarm? your insurer might not like that.
Must have taken leave of my senses. Went to see overpriced ex-demonstrator but wrong colour of grey for Mrs F. For only a bit more money we got and end-of-line brand new 1.2 Puretech 131 (I'd have preferred 110 for better chance of longevity) EAT6 for £17k on the nail. Hats off to the salesman. Of all the tiny turbo three pots this PSA engine seems arguably the most user-friendly and reliable one, and Aisin's EAT6 seems to have no long term issues either - probably because it's apparently based on the hugely successful ZF 6HP box. We live in a village so MrsF wanted 4x4 but the video of HJ driving one up a ski slope with its nifty grip control was good enough for me. And it's come with all season tyres. I haven't actually driven it yet (flu) but will report more in due course. Read more
The way the power fold mechanism works means if the mirror is frozen or jammed by outside influence - the control circuit board inside the mechanism will just cut the power off from the power fold function to prevent damage.
Simply allow to unfreeze / remove the obstruction & activate the power fold function to reset the stuck mirror.

Sounds like they're desperate for sales if they have to give away the electricity...besides, why are they subsidising what is likely to be an expensive car purchased by well off people? Read more
Excellent idea, the point is to encourage buyers to plug in rather than use the car as a tax-dodge as people have done with the frankly tiny battery PHEV's from Merc and BMW (upcoming models with larger batteries excluded). This way people will find they can use no fuel at all unless they do a long journey. And of course the cost of electricity is very low anyway. Its about changing the perspective so users are encouraged to maximise electric range and enjoy the benefits. It's why proper PHEV's like the Chevrolet Volt/Ampera have been appreciating in value for a number of years now. Owners use no fuel at all - unless they exceed the cars range when the engine provides 'unlimited' range by charging the battery.

Loved the Moobs analogy lol
Hello, Not a major issue, probably £100 fine and some points, I have a clean licence at the moment, but, after passing many mobile speed cameras, police cars etc doing 70mph in my van with no issues for many years, now been clobbered for doing 77mph on dual carriageway rather than 60mph. You can only do 70mph in car derived van, not that anyone has ever been bothered about that before, I knew, just assumed they never did. But, was clocked at 800m and on a bend, I have downloaded their cert of conformity but their tests are only done up to 150m. Not sure it's worth arguing as £100 and 3 points won't affect me too much, but what are your thoughts on this situation? Thanks! Read more
I'd endorse Middleman's advice. You're bang to rights here and unless they step outside guidelines and offer you a course the it's fine/points and all you can do is minimise the damage by taking them.
The issue that needs to be tackled is the ridiculously outdated limits for vans. They actually apply to all vans with an exception for car derived vans with a max laden weight less than two tonnes. The limit dates back to the fifties/sixties when the vans were things like the Bedford CA, Commer and Thames 400. Top speed, braking and steering on these and even early Transits was not comparable to contemporary cars and lower limits were prudent. Quantum leap in eighties with vans like Trafic which had proper brakes, precise steering and front wheel drive. A limit by weight/size might make sense with the biggest panel vans but those under 3 tonnes are no more potential trouble at 70 than a large SUV. Perhaps less....
That worked, thank you for such a quick reply!
