Can somebody please advise on what the problem might be or what I need to check to see what's going on, I've just bought a 02 plate ford KA for a cheap run about and realised the CD works fine but when switched back to AM/FM it doesn't pick up anything and completely silent no hissing or crackling when I stop it seeking like it's completely dead, not touched it yet or pulled anything out so would like to know if anyone knows why its not tuning in to any station or band? The Ariel seems ok but again I've not checked connections etc.... Read more
A bulb behind the heater panel has blown. It's a very, very minor inconvenience but irritating nonetheless. As I have to remove the radio (and probably half the car) to get to it, it's job I intend to do only once. Does anyone know which bulbs I need so that I don't have to decimate the car to find out? Thank you.

So a few months ago I bought my first car and decided to change the stereo to a double din one and put a powered sub in it (completely aware how childish it is), but now the car often won’t start and needs jumping. The lights come on but the car clicks and won’t crank over. I think it’s the sub as other people sound like they have the same problem but I can’t seem to find out how to fix it. I’ve done a bit of research and found I may need a higher output alternator or a capacitor but which one do I need? I’ve disconnected the sub to see if it makes a difference aswell and sometimes if I turn the car on but not the ignition it will just about crank over. Battery is fine by the way.

Unlikely. They may be able to check your hi fi installation, but anything beyond this requires experienced hands . Find a local auto electrical specialist. What part of the country are you located?

Lead acid batteries don't generally like to be discharged, so repeated jump)bump starts won't do it any good.
I would suggest a new battery, can't imagine it will be so much for a Corsa? ...
Is it possible to adjust the stiffness of the drivers door hinge in the fully open position? I currently have to park uphill and the door just won't stay open. The passenger door does, I assume as it has had less wear. Fed up of getting squashed and looking undignified! Read more
Thanks I will have a search now for how to adjust/replace.
You may well be able to replace, but I doubt that you can adjust. Car doors are now pretty heavy, so if they were able to resist falling shut on a slope, they would be hard work to open and shut normally. All you might do is lubricate (grease) which won't help your problem. Sounds as though yours is worn with use.
My 4 year old VW Golf GT broke down last week.

HI all - first time poster here,
My OH is having his company car replaced soon and I am considering buying his current car, Golf GTD 2.0. It has almost 60K on the clock. Selling price is c11K but the leasing company slap on a 10% 'admin fee' bringing it to just over 12K.... Read more
Good thinking, Cobbles, and thank you for coming back to us. I'm glad we've been of some help to you.
Let's hope that the Golf at least sees you through the winter.
Hello, i am unsure of how much disassembly is required to remove the heater matrix for replacement, anyone got a link or advice?
I backflushed the matrix with a garden hose, brown water and silt came out but did not help lack of heat.... Read more
Brown water and silt tends to suggest it’s got poor flow . Don’t think these are too difficult to change . Remove the lower side panels locate the 2 pipes . These are clamped on and there are o ring seals . Matrix should slide out .
Basically I had arranged via phone call with a BMW dealer I would part ex my current car for a car they had for sale, agreed price etc and i paid the deposit for the car.
However when I went to collect the car, the car had actually been resprayed and I rejected the car.
Dealer has since paid my deposit back.
What I didn’t realise was that the dealer has settled the finance on my current car prior to me collecting and still have the finance active in place for the new car I rejected, although they have told me they are in the process of cancelling it.
Obviously them clearing the finance shouldn’t of happened and my old policy can not be reactivated, where do I stand in this, do I have to set up a new finance agreement to replace my old one, or can I just return the car to them and let that be a lesson learnt for them?
Car value is 17k
Finance value is 19k
Many thanks Read more
Presumably BMW finance, that being the case up to the dealers to sort it out to put you in the same position as if any deal had not taken place.
Correct. Dealer have confirmed the second option is not possible due to the original finance agreement no longer being active.
Ok thanks I will pull it out and have a look at Connections but like you said it would make some kind of noise and I've turned the volume to the max and its completely silent but soon as I change it to CD it works fine so I might just buy one off ebay they only 25 quid and see what that does, does you know if the aerial could be at fault? And if so what can be done if that's broken?
