I’ve just had my 2011 CR-V serviced and the stroke sensor arm was found seized. They want £263 to fix it. I’ve never met one of these before so what I want to know is why won’t a drop of WD40 do the job. Is £263 reasonable? And how easy is it to replace myself if necessary?
Thanks

Hi,
I have a X-Trail with a faulty turbo. I am looking to find a cheap replacement turbo to keep the car going for a few more months before a new motor comes. My turbo has the code 14411ES60A (750441-5). When i have rung around scrap yards and looked on a breakers network website, I have been unable to find the matching code. The last Nissan breakers i rang told me i didn't need to worry about the correct code and as long as it comes off a 2.2 it should be fine. Is this advice correct? I find it strange that out of around 20 scrap yards checked, not one of the X-Trails had the matching numbers. I have only been able to locate one in Germany. It simply isn't worth me refurbishing the current turbo due to the value of the car. It would be great if someone could give me some advise please.... Read more

Any advice on how to get NextBase to replace a camera that screen failed on after 15 months?... Read more
Those were fitted in our lorry fleet Concrete, half the time when footage was needed the things proved not to be recording from one of more of the lenses, and moving registrations apparently proved almost impossible to read, one would expect better considering the high cost, as you say you never know with the sequence of the 4 different coloured twinkling lights whether the thing is working or not, another make is now being rolled out.
Thankfully mine was working when someone ran into me on a roundabout, but it wouldn't have mattered even if the third party hadn't admitted fault (they did) because i fortunately had an unquestionable indy witness....
I see that the Morgan Motor Company has sold a majority stake to an Italian consortium. Was this the end of British owned car manufacturing?
I think you missed the word "owned" Alan. Are there any British owned manufacturers left?
Ah, yes - I did - sorry!...
Can anyone advise please, the Ford Fiesta in question has a Ford 6000 CD built in radio unit which is fully functional.
However as everyone knows when the battery is changed the radio code will most likely need to be re entered.... Read more

Considering a Seat Leon ST for my next car and are look for a petrol version, would prefer the 1.4 as I do occasionally tow a 500kg trailer, otherwise just 2 up with occasional 4 passengers and luggage but there are more 1.2 TSI for sale.
By buying a 1.2TSI would I be massively short changing myself?... Read more
We've got a Golf with the 1.4 122hp TSi engine and a Leon with the 1.2 TSi 110 hp unit which you are considering. I'm constantly amazed but what a great little engine the 1.2 is. Loses out compared to the Golf a little at the very top end and a little at the very bottom end but in day to day driving there's not much in it. It's certainly got a lot more pull than normally aspirated 1.6 petrol engined cars from a few years back (like SLO76 said). Don't know what it would be like at towing your trailer but suspect it would be okay.
Both engines have been totally reliable so far (probably notched up around 50K between them) and oil use has been minimal....
Does 3pts for sp50 (exceeding motorway limit) increase insurance premium more than sp30 (normal speeding)?
I got done just under a year ago (for sp50), and on the renewal process the premium jumped a lot, more so than a previous sp30 conviction which from what I remember didn't make much difference. ... Read more
Thanks, that was the sort of similar experience I was seeking -sp50 in non 70 mph limit area
I too shopped around and got an OK deal so no harm done - well only the £100 fine, at least it wasn't doubled on the insurance.
Hello. I have sold a Land Rover Discovery to a lady. she took it to her local garage to get it checked over and he found a core plug leaking. She kicked off so i told her to leave the car with the garage i would refund her and pick the car up. Thats that. I spoke to the garage as the woman wanted to keep the car and in the end i paid the garage bill of £650. She agreed verbally that i would hear no more Now, 2 Months on the head gasket has gone and shes bothering me again for the full refund.Part of me wants to help her but she is now bad mouthing me on facebook so ive dug my heals. Morally i should help her but where does it stop?? Read more
Agree. And it being two months on since the sale could lead to any reason for the HGF, it could even be a bad repair from the garage.

I have a Honda Jazz Auto, I love it but it is 12 years old.
Long story short, I went to my Honda garage for a newer model and drove the new version. It is Awful! Drove like a tank, no pickup at all. I got back in my '57 plate which is nippy and fun to drive and just knew I would not be buying another Honda automatic.... Read more
