I hope the forum members include some experienced caravaners. I probably need to have the tyres changed on my Bailley Pegasus Genoa. They are now 6 years old and although they have a good tread I am informed that they need changing anyway. So far so good. the tyre size is 185R14G 104/102N. I cannot seem to find any website that offers these sizes. The profile seems to be the obstacle. Nothing is offered above 80 profile. Does anyone know of a supplier/fitting service that I can contact for a quotation? Any help will be gratefully received.
Cheers Concrete Read more
I had 4 original Michelin Energy tyres on one of our cars that were factory fitted when new. At the 4 year MOT the tester commented that there were surface cracks on all 4 which were not an issue, in truth I had not spotted them.
When I swapped the wheels for the winter ones I contacted Michelin about the cracks and they suggested that I sent the tyres back to them via ATS who would remove them from the rims FOC and if when inspected they were deemed to be OK they would be returned and refitted FOC. I explained I had no need for new tyres and was told there was no condition to buy Michelins if they were faulty. Only condition was the date code on the tyre was no older than 6 years, ours were just over 4 years....
I notice some new "blue" diesel cars are having the "urea" tank put in what was previously the spare wheel well. Leaving only enough space for a space saver, where previous cars of the same model could fit full size spares in there.
Another force against proper spare wheels in the world will lead to many more problems when people have flat tyres.... Read more
Hi All,

Yup, good advice. Usually it’s best not to deal on the day, just make a cheeky offer and when they refuse just walk away saying I’ll leave it with you if you can then call me. More often than not they’ll be on the phone to you later in the day or the next with a sharpened offer.
Alternatively when you’re viewing tell them you’ve another car to go and see. Leave and later call to make an offer over the phone stating it’s down to price. The dealer then thinks he has to compete with someone else for your money.
It’s also a good idea to negotiate late in the day when the manager is keen to bag a last minute sale to add to the figures for the day.

No chance of changing the "I say, are you in the queue?" mindset, unfortunately. IMHO the offence of driving without due care and attention should be extended to selfish use of road space. Longer than necessary queues hold people up, preventing some drivers from reaching a subsequent turnoff and add to general frustration and cantankerousness.
The modern English obsession with queuing and "knowing one's place" seems to stem from wartime rationing, according to this article: www.bbc.com/news/magazine-23087024 ; that plus the boom in car ownership and increasingly congested roads from the 60s onwards (Dr Beeching may have had something to do with that, methinks.)
Unless there are two ramrod straight, equal length, queues of cars in perfect parallel formation, a lot of drivers simply will not let another driver in if there's the slightest chance that someone might gain "unfair" advantage and a half second lead over someone who has been queuing patiently for at least three minutes.
I was once severely tooted at for the apparently unpardonable sin of letting two cars in front instead of just the one. It was obviously my solemn duty to let one car in and then use my car to block the second car, forcing him to beg for a space behind me.
Only in England...

As in the title, why do most (not all) infotainment systems, touchscreens, etc suck so much? Even on fairly decent ranged cars their infotainment can be shown up by a $300 Android tablet, yet the cars themselves cost 20-30k?
What limiting factor is there in this? It's not power, because I can charge said tablet or phone via the car itself. The only saving grace is technologies like Android auto, but that still doesn't improve screen panel quality and touch response.... Read more
A car is a driving machine - not an audio-visual studio!
This evening on the way home I was following a car and a horse box towed by a Land Rover. I overtook the car and was tailgated during the overtake by a muppet in a high end BMW. I pulled in behind the horse box. A few minutes later I overtook the horse box, and as before I was tailgated by the BMW. We were approaching the apex of a hill, and as I pulled in he overtook me. Just after I pulled in the white line in the centre of the road on our side became solid. Basically during most of his overtake of me, the line was solid. I checked the dash cam video afterwards, and what I failed to see is that he almost had a head on collision with an oncoming motorbike on the other side of the road. Quite why I failed to see the bike at the time is beyond me.
At the bottom of the hill there were lights, and I caught up with him and got his number plate. So it looks like the video will be off to the local police. I know some of you think sending in a video is wrong, but this driver is dangerous. It was a high end BMW on a fairly new plate too.
I just wonder why he takes the risk of a serious accident when he could have overtaken me a minute later in safety with no increase in journey time due to the lights! A high end car suggests he’s not thick, so why drive like a dork. Read more

Re: bicycles made for 2. Another option would be a Skoda Superb estate with the internal bike racks. You'd still have to fold the seats, but no faffing around our carefully arranging stuff and you don't have to drive a van. Read more

I once had four adult bikes and a piggy-back thing in the back of my Fiat Multipla and it was still a three-seater. Look, I know the arithmetic doesn't work but the rest of the family came in another car.
A Multipla with the back seats removed will also take a pallet. Or a washing machine. Oh, why did Fiat discontinue them? I'm on my fourth and she's getting tired, I want a new one!
Will anyone who has a low mileage, diesel Multipla they don't want please email me: Rushlight27@gmail.com. Thank you.
I visit a tyre centre. I get tyres changed, On my invoice is a note warning me to check my wheel nuts are tight after 50 miles. I visit a garage, Wheels come off e.g for some work on the brakes. I don't get a warning to check the wheel nuts. Garages seem to be living dangerously, although I don't hear of problems with wheel nuts coming loose. Read more
A bit of experience that anybody buying a trailer, or indeed a caravan might like to absorb.
. A particular trailer manufacturer had a big problem with their trailers shedding wheels quite soon after sale with a new boat package. They of course blamed the owner for not checking the wheel nut torque. A serious accident happened as a result of this and an official engineering investigation ensued - me not involved fortunately....

got it going with a tow, black smoke etc, running rough, all pipes now squiting diesel when undone half a turn but taking no 2 and 3 connectors off injectors no difference, so it seems the 2 injectors are malfunctioning, so got to clean them somehow,
