Happy sort of Jap
Like SL, I too struggled to replace an Accord Tourer , which was a great car and sadly no longer made. I too wanted to stay with a Japanese manufacturer and looked for petrol auto. The Mazda 6 was a nice car, but only available in diesel with an auto box. After looking at various cars I opted for a Toyota Avensis Tourer. However, while the Avensis is very competent, if I was looking to change now I would have gone for the Honda CR-V. It’s just in a different class to most of the mainstream cars in that size and price range
As well as considering the Ford Mondeo 1.6 Ecoboost (see post www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/128695/ford-mondeo...d) I am also considering the following:-

Yes but as with all turbocharged engines make sure it’s seen fresh oil every year. Don’t buy one that’s been neglected.
I have been looking for an ideal 4x4, by that I mean it has to have the right seat height for a disabled person to get in & out. These have proven to be the ideal height after comparing other 4x4's, but there is a problem and thats which model and how do you work out the difference between them all to narrow down your searches. I am not looking at the new style and much prefer an 8-10 year old automatic diesel that has been looked after and wont need lots of work to keep going. I will be doing under 10k a year but will be using green lanes to get to work at times. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Another make to look at if you want good off-road performance and reliability is Subaru.
A government minister wants to abandon short term prison and possibly tag offenders with GPS tags.
I think a couple of weeks in prison would deter quite a lot of offenders as the present ways seem to be a waste of time. Read more
Surely what we need is a way to encourage people not to commit these crimes in the first place.

I've never had a Renault but I know a few who have ranging from very old to quite new and they don't seem to be outstandingly troublesome. Is the Renault reputation for low quality warranted? Read more

My current Lexus IS220D is being scrapped and I am getting a new Mazda 6. The Mazda does not come with a space saver wheel, but my old Lexus does. Can I simply keep the space saver from the Lexus and use it in the Mazda or will I need a specific Mazda space saver wheel?

PCD is the same but the Toyota has a centre bore of 60.1 & the Mazda 67.1. If it was the other way around you could have done something for reuse (assuming same rolling radius) but not this way....
Honda have just announced that their Swindon plant will close in 2022.
A consequence of the recent trade deal signed between Japan and the EU where Japanese imports into the EU will become tariff free perhaps?... Read more
If people think their car was made in Swindon how will this decision affect them?
It wont, but some people have funny ideas about owners of Hondas, I have owned Civics for years and will stay with them due to the fact their isn't a motor that can replace it....
Having posted this question in the recent past, I am following the advice I was given. Now I am looking for comparisons in price and relevant tyre details, One fitter is offering a cheaper price, but the tyre I require is a Continental Premium Contact 3 they are offering [online] purchase, a Continental Premium Contact 6, Also in the review comments section one guy ordered a particular tyre, only when paid for and fitted he noticed a difference. When he pointed it out, he was told it was an equivalent tyre that was made for their Company. It was basically 'you have paid they are fitted jog on ' So I am apprehensive. Sorry to go on so much. Thanks in anticipation.
Having read my post, I should have stuck to my intended question which was meant to be ' what is the rating difference between PremiumContact 3 [my tyre] and the one on offer PremiumContact 6'.
A problem has arisen regarding the electronic handbrake on my Golf SV, as I loath these handbrakes the problem is even more annoying and potentially dangerous.
Without warning when pulling away the handbrake comes back on, sometimes a quick dip of the clutch releases it other times, neutral and a dip to the floor works, this is b***** dangerous as On one occasion a car behind very nearly hit the rear of mine as it nose dived to a halt.... Read more
The electronic brake can be used in a emergency by pasangers or in case of hidraulic brake failiure. Once you pull the button you go for a very sudden stop. You might want to check the swich as it could wet since it usualy is near the cupholders
