I visit a tyre centre. I get tyres changed, On my invoice is a note warning me to check my wheel nuts are tight after 50 miles. I visit a garage, Wheels come off e.g for some work on the brakes. I don't get a warning to check the wheel nuts. Garages seem to be living dangerously, although I don't hear of problems with wheel nuts coming loose. Read more

A bit of experience that anybody buying a trailer, or indeed a caravan might like to absorb.

. A particular trailer manufacturer had a big problem with their trailers shedding wheels quite soon after sale with a new boat package. They of course blamed the owner for not checking the wheel nut torque. A serious accident happened as a result of this and an official engineering investigation ensued - me not involved fortunately....

Last November I bought a used RS4 from a specialist dealer. I paid £35,000 for it. Within 48 hours a serious brake problem developed. The work has cost me £4000. The dealer denied any responsibility. I am suing. As part of the background research I am doing for my solicitor,
I found a website showing a review on the same dealer that had been submitted by somebody unknown to me who bought a car from the same dealer at about the same time. This persons car had had a faulty fuel line repaired very badly. This caused diesel fuel to spurt out all over his hot engine. Once again the dealer denied responsibility.
Given the very dangerous nature of the cars sold by this dealer, is it likely that the police might be interested ? Read more

Serious bit of kit this, probably has the ceramic brakes to cost this much to fix. Bound to have had a test drive before buying so the car must have stopped OK then?

Has anyone come across this piece of a case law in relation to an RTA? The only details Google provides is an article on this website from nearly 10 years ago.

It basically ruled that where two overtaking vehicles collided then in the absence of any evidence that one party was committed to the overtake well before the other, it had to be a 50/50.... Read more

Cheers guys.

Fortunately not me involved, I work in the claims sector and had it quoted to me but had never heard of it nor could I find any decent information. Wanted to make sure it was legit!...

Reliance on cameras and not on Police patrols means that most drink drivers have no fear of being stopped; add the fact that the last time I was in an accident, even after requesting we were both breathalysed, the Police spent 2 1/2 hours trying to track down a working meter, and eventually gave up. So why don't the Highways Agency or whoever is in control of the roadworks, put up a sign saying "utilise all road space and merge in turn ", it can't be that difficult even for this country.

Perhaps they don't really believe that "the zip-merging" is going to work? Seems reasonable to me, since I don't either.

As pointed out above, the limiting factor is the single lane's capacity, and "the zip-merging" is likely to under-exploit it....

I have a 2012 Honda CRV - Phoned local Honda dealer - they ordered the part(s).

A few days later it took them an hour - job done & they did not lose the settings for the built in SatNav like another dealer did on a previous recall. Read more

Excellent advice above. I would add you need to load the contact circuit (30 and 87) .The relay may click ok,and the meter will read 0 ohms, but if the contacts are burnt or damaged ,the relay may be able to pass the required current. Use a headlight bulb and battery . I guess its a micro relay like this;www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Durite-Micro-Make-Break-Relay-S...0
