Having wasted several hours trying to find a better deal for my Gas & Electric I pondered what it would be like if we bought vehicle fuel in a similar way ..............
May I suggest we need more 'competition'in the domestic market for petrol and diesel fuel. With more electric vehicles coming on to the roads we also need to make vehicle energy consumption easier to understand for all consumers.... Read more

Pardon me for asking this, but why are people swapping perfectly good standard bulbs for these led thingies,
Look on most single make forums and there will be countless threads about the best bulbs to buy with posters getting all excited and moist because their new bulbs are a slightly different colour thus making them more visible from Mars....
Not much consolation when my local Asda was selling petrol for £1.13 last year. With the price drop it would be £1.20 today.
Better than nothing I guess. Read more
As usual, supermarkets are quick to pass on rises in global oil prices but rather more tardy when it comes to passing on reductions. Does anyone remember the price of a litre of unleaded falling to not much more than a pound about three years ago? The falling the value of the pound against the dollar has made a big difference as oil is traded in US dollars. Yet another brexit effect.
hello there, long time lurker first time poster here, hoping to pick your brains.
I've recently got myself a new job that will involve a lengthy motorway commute (80 miles a day round trip, around 16k annually). Luckily the timings involve mean it should be cruising all the way. I've also got myself a small family that keeps on growing, especially my youngest who eats like a horse.... Read more

I would be looking at old coils breaking down or injector. Coil packs were notorious on this era of AudVw
He's anyone fitted polyeurothane trailing arm bushes? The mk4 mondeo ones on mine have gone. You need a special tool to fit oem ones. Apparently the powerful ones just push in but I'm not sure how much force would be needed. In the brochure it says use a press but I would do DIY in situ. Maybe using a vice or similar. Any advice or experience greatly recieved.

Just to round this one off. In the end I found a Ford Indy in Guildford where I live who did the job for £90 + VAT. The poly bushes were also £90 but I would have had to spend all day under the car. Lots of other places I phoned were around £170 at that I might have done it myself.
I was also slightly dubious about the poly bushes. Some people still to taste them and others not so keen. ...
Evening all.

Best of luck with your new car, and sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm glad you thought that the car advice here was of use to you.
By all means drop back in from time to time to let us know how you get on with the car/overall ownership experience, and, if you like, to ask questions or discuss issues.
I'd like to change the transmission fluid in the 4-speed automatic of this Honda Civic. Manual says use Honda ATF-Z1. Halfords sell "Comma MVATF Plus" which has Honda ATF-Z1 and Honda ATF-DW1 among its specifications - would it be a good choice? Read more
Given the choice I always go with O/E parts.
But as stated Honda don't manufacture oil,...
I bought a 2005 VW Transporter with no service history!
Had a good vibe from the dealer and everything added up condition wise and the way the engine ran and it sailed through the equivalent of the MOT here. A "right" amount of KM for the age and from Holland originally so had never seen a hill! It`s troubles really began after I got it!!! 2 and a bit years later still going strong. Did the run back to the UK from Hungary with nary a hitch.... Read more
Where I live many used cars on the market are imported from Austria and Germany and I have looked and walked away from loads without any documentation apart from the import papers. Very common. They do get a total new identity upon being registered here and it is like starting afresh.
Having said that we have just agreed a purchase of a Subaru Forester with all paperwork in immaculate order so hey ho....
Hi all!
Going to look at a petrol Subaru Forester to use as a working vehicle in, well, a forest!... Read more
Well, went to see the car. Got a big surprise, full service history including fresh MOT alongside receipts for a new clutch last year and the car itself in really nice condition overall. Just what you would expect on a 10 year old car. Reasonable mileage too and drove really nicely. Miss a turbo but maybe that is for the best in the longer term.
Owned by the same family of accountants from new and used as a company work car, little towing done and negotiated a reasonable bit off the asking price and got a set of winter tyres with Subaru alloys and snow chains thrown in....
