That CO2 emissions level for the Ford 1.5T petrol is atrocious! It's worse (even in the lower powered form) than the 1.6 N/A petrol in my Mazda3 designed over a decade earlier. Equivalent engines from other makes come out so much lower. No wonder the person writing to Ford was pee'd off - a bet they check the specs more clearly next time! Read more

Poor customer service from Nissan - especially about the hire car insurance excess amount.
I won't be buying a new Nissan then. Read more
Doesn’t explain why Nissan brought out new note knowing they had Micra too. Also they are selling it elsewhere.
I've been in the market for a used SUV - family friendly, but with a good mix of premium feel and economy. I'm not looking for other options really, as it's been done to death thus far; I've narrowed it down to the following:
- Volvo XC60 (D5244T* engine, but potentially a DRIVe in the right spec)... Read more
The petrol XC60 offers little economy or reliability over the diesel - it's a turbo lump with combined average of low 20's mpg, plus £555 pa VED.
May well go and view one or two D5s this week
Hi the contacts in my cigarette lighter look badly corroded and when I plug something into it the connection is dodgy to say the least. I'm thinking about replacing it, I'm just after some advice. I am lead to believe I may be getting a dashcam for Christmas, and to have somewhere to plug it in I guess I need to get this sorted. Does anyone know what the Ford part number is for the cigarette lighter in my car - it's between the gearstick and the cupholders in the middle of the car as shown here and currently has a cap saying 'power outlet - 12V' on it. Is it actually a cigarette lighter at all, or a 12V socket? Is this suitable for powering a dashcam? Has anyone had any experience of replacing it?
If the contacts are corroded ,then it will need replacing.
Hard to tell without seeing it, maybe not even then, but the OP says the contacts "look" corroded....
As self-employed, I had to show my accountant all expenses, so that a part of every wiper blade and spark plug could be set against tax. I have always recorded car mileage on June 30th (the account’s year end). The magic of Excel produced these figures, which I thought might amuse, if only myself. Our annual mileage started at around 13,000, then up to over 40,000 (the exhausting school run days), now down to under 9,000. Our three cars (two before 1993 when I bought my first Audi and semi-retired the TR7) are considered as a totality to keep figures simple). Maintenance varied from under £150 (? no oil changes that year!) to over £1200 in one unfortunate year.
The total cost of the seven cars (my TR7, Audis 2.0E, A6 2.8, A8 W12; MrsF’s estate Passats GL5, 2.0GL, Focus 1.6) was £53950, and we still have three of them.... Read more

Hey guys, i have a citroen xsara picasso 2.0hdi 2004 and while on my way to work everything died apart from my radio and hazards and things like that, i found out that the fuse box under the steering wheel, the igntion fuse doesnt have a live, i can put a power to the igntion switch and the igntion will come on and the car will start but once i remove the power it dies again, what could this be just the igntion switch or? Because theres no power to the fuse and im stuck please help Read more
There are usually 2 ignition circuits to the switch on these. So you need to find whether there is a loss of input to the switch,or output.
Appreciate any advice on following please.

Yeah I've arranged for it to be stripped. I've put up with it for a few months and I've now had enough (The sound has become more regular), so hopefully it's a minor-ish issue....

Had to laugh at some of the sales blurb from Dallas Toyota. The hood is US speak for the bonnet right?, so under "important other features under the hood" was 'rear coil springs'. Surely this would be a very odd place to find them?!
There isn't a convertible Prius, is there ? :-)
Couple of years ago had a Vectra 3.2 estate. Great car, cost £1700, had over 2 years or so totally trouble free driving, fast, very roomy, comfy, leather, auto, not too bad on juice. A bus wrote it off, just after I had the cambelt done on 80,000 miles GRRRR. Looking back I should have bought it back off the insurer and put it back on the road. ANYWAY...
I need another roomy estate, prefer petrol, roominess, speed. a bit like a Vectra 3.2 really. Presently in a Saab convertible and it's the devil's job getting baby seats in the back!
Are Audis, Mercs, BMWs overpriced? I've never bought them.... Read more
There wasn't an automatic version on the Jaguar X-type estate 4wd - not when I looked anyway - and it's not as big as a Vectra-C estate as that has a 100mm wheelbase extension compared to saloon/hatch.

to JB Fetcham. Am on second A8, both from new and both kept over 5 years. First needed air suspension fettle only, and as a 57 plate is still on road, second so far no probs touch wood. Great way to travel.
