We are a school in a city centre location, with a small car park which is also a right of way to two other properties - a small block of student flats, and a public access sports facility. Both of these have their own allocated spaces, and generally stick to them during the day. However, our car park is filling up with local residents/commuters who have decided it's a good place to park. We have spoken to them, and some don't return but others are rude and abusive and continue to park there. It is a huge issue for school staff and visitors as road parking is very limited and the public car parks nearby are around £15/day.
We've been told we can't fit a gate due to the complexities of comings and goings and the right of way, so some form of permit parking + enforcement seems to be the only way forward. A fully contracted parking service would be very expensive. ... Read more
As another poster mentioned, bay barriers are a way of protecting your spaces but inconvenient for staff and visitors.
I quite like the idea of buying an old banger and blocking the repeat offenders in. If the hanger is parked on your land then they’re nothing the police can do to get it moved.

If you look on utube there's an american video about the 'sway bar' which says you tighten it so you see two and a half threads of the bolt showing above the nut. But I've just had a look at mine (original) and there's about a centimetre of bolt showing. So I guess it's just a matter of judgement, i.e. tight, but not squashing the bushes too much. Interestingly, the Focus being worked on had double my miles (133,000) on the clock - a tribute to this model's longevity.

The engine will either have an idle speed control valve or an electronic throttle body. The main issues with both is the build up of carbon deposits which affect the position of it. The ECM controls the idle speed by controlling these components which cannot be accurately controlled if they're covered in deposits. I'd suggest cleaning it and give the ECM time to learn the new basic settings. However you may need diagnostic equipment to reset the throttle body settings.
