Well it LOOKS like a conventional filter, though I dunno what's inside that particular make. Conventional filters are paper-based, though higher end ones have synthetic fibres.

Ordinary paper suffers slow acid hydrolysis and oxidation, which is why old books/newspapers look brown. A lot of the acid is in the paper from the start, though, which may not apply to oil filter fibres....

Do all the distractions in a car reduce concentrating on driving? Sat nav screens, audio equipment, screens for basic functions which require you to search about 'til you find the one you want. All this sort of thing puts your eyes in the car rather than on the road. Read more

Panel light illumination OFF until lights are switched ON.

+1, I always wonder if that is why you see so many cars with no lights on (when it's dark) in built-up areas?...

Mini-mum damage: so the engine oil warning light came on and his partner continued to drive on the motorway for 5 minutes. After the engine 'cut out,' he expects the dealer to rectify as a goodwill gesture!? Sheeesh! Read more

When TOYOTA had that large recall in America with cars apparently driving themselves, they immediately increased their warranty here to five years. This did their reputation no harm at all, others did nothing. They just think the British are stupid and put up with poor service. We have some of the shortest car warranties in the world.

Please explain how this car is 'thinner' than a F type.

I don't think the thickness of a car has ever been a consideration when deciding which one to buy. Read more

Re - Roll model, Does the correspondent really mean he has no brakes in that scenario? Surely the footbrakes still operates, albeit without vacumn assistance, in that situation? If not, it seems a major flaw. Read more

The halogen headlights on my Golf Match have servo motors for manual height adjustment of the beam angle for when the car is loaded. These servo motors are both doing their own thing together as if the manual control was being set up and down. The behaviour is evident when the car is stopped and the ignition is on (I can hear the two servo motors).

I'm pretty there's no automatic levelling system with halogen headlights. The problem was not an MOT failure but it was noted.... Read more

Colleague left his car with a 'meet-and-greet' and on return there was no sign of it.

He had a helluva job claiming as his insurance claimed it wasn't stolen as he'd handed over the keys!

Considered a Kia Carens but 3 issues put me off

1. Little discount and the price wasn’t competitive

2. Poor driving position even with adjustments, you sit low beneath the dashboard and the
Bonnet is hard to gauge

3. The petrol option was gutless and poor on
fuel economy

The 2 trim was excellent
