Hi.
If you were to buy a 2013 Mazda CX-5 would you choose the petrol or diesel model?... Read more
So here's the thing, I overtook a cyclist on a perfectly straight road, clear and dry road conditions, there was no contact or injury of any kind, and yet out of the blue I receive a summons for driving without due care and attention, this cyclist had posted his cycle cam footage to our local Police force. When I questioned the Police on this matter they said it had been viewed by an officer of many years standing and the her judgement was I had passed too close, and the offence therefor had been "proved"
I have searched high and low for any mention of a specific distance that you need to pass a cyclist, in fact to pass anything, and I cannot find anything other than vague advice or recommendations, but my point is there is nothing specific as far as I can see in law.... Read more
I was close passed last night by a small car in the livery of a company that reads utility meters. Barely a foot in twilight and on an ill surfaced urban road. I was correctly lit.
No camera footage or I might have been tempted to report it to Police. ...

Refering back to my comments on our 2015 Sorrento in your previous post Cumberbatchfan, I believe the Hyundai is mechanically much the same and certainly uses the similar 2.2 R type diesel.
Having read around, the latest models now have SCR to comply with emissions regs, so presumably need topping up with Adblue. Ours is Euro 6 and doesn't have SCR....
After much thought I have come to the conclusion that the now absurdly draconian annual MoT is not only a sop to the motor trade but also a political action to boost the economy.
The average age of cars in the UK is a mere 8yrs. It's a year older in most other European countries and approaching the UK average scrapping age in the USA, where the average age for cars and light trucks is nearly 12 years. I don't think they make them any better in the USA so the only reason I can think of is our overly cautious MoT which forces fundamentally sound vehicles off the road too early because 'not worth repairing, squire..', at huge cost to the disappointed poorer motorist who often struggles financially to keep a car on the road. Anyone else agree?.....or just a stupid idea? Read more
I think a lot of classic cars around today have usually been restored and preserved (er at least once). I restored a 1968 Morris 1000 in 1988 so it would have been about 20 years old at the time. To be honest if it wasn't for knowing the owner really well the car should have been scrapped at the time. At 20 years old.The behind the scenes sil structure had vanished, the 3 door side panels were munched away as was the metal & structure bedind it. Floors and crossmember needed repairing (not replacing though) and there was little left for the rear springs to attach to - someone had bodged them with foam, filler and underseal. Bottom of the A pillar was poor around bottom door hinge. There was little metal left for the rear wings to attach to and needed fabricating from scratch. There was so much metal removed and welding required I started running out of reference points - had to make up a wood and dowel device to keep track of body panel/chassis positions, this was compared to another know good car.

hi all
ive been having some issues getting the car into gear while driving. sometimes it just will not slot in other times grinding the gear. this is intermittent. the bite is quite low on the car. ive only had it 6 months so thought it had plenty of life on the clutch.... Read more
I did buy an luk clutch and dmf but ive been put off getting it fitted by a back street garage due to reading horror stories about this. the cost is over £1300 at honda.
Buying your own parts and then paying a garage to fit them is the daftest thing in the world to do. You will only save a few pounds but if things go wrong you will suffer financially sorting it out....
Hi i have been tirelessly trying to find a solution to my problem. I been to mechanics garages and no solution at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated! So I will explain what the problems are with my VW polo 1.4tdi 2007 and what I did so far to try and fix it.

I spoke to a auto electrician and he said to keep driving the car until it gets even worse so the car light fault stays on and not just flash. Right now only the ABS light shows which he said means it has registered a fault. But the car does feel worse as brakes feel slower to respond. This is truly a complex problem. He said if he comes over and checks cam wiring and they are all good it would be ECU but that costs £500-800 to reprogram and fit and it might not be a ECU fault so that is why he said keep driving the car more until it gets worse..
Hi
Looking to know has anyone ever removed the heater core in a mk6 golf? Its down by the passenger side (RHD car), side panel of the dash can be removed but still not much access... Read more
Slides out the side of the heater box. You will need to de-couple the coolant pipe fittings and also there are various bits of interior trim that will need to be removed. Depending on what type heater installed, you may need to remove some of the servo actuator motors. Is it leaking or blocked?
An added benefit of PSA's Vauxhall takeover is that folk wanting supremely practical, vanity-free, family transport, now have three badges to choose from. So if you like the car, but were put off by not having a Citroen or Peugeot dealer nearby, but DO have a Vauxhall one, well here you go!,

I was convinced I saw that the petrol auto was available but having gone back to the reviews I was reading yesterday I can see I was 100% wrong.

Hi all, my son has just bought a 2010 Freelander and there is a wiper fault. They stop in the middle of the windscreen when they are set on constant or intermittent, even if you press the washers to clean the screen they sometimes will not work. The car is in the garage that it was bought from but like all good intermittent faults it is being a good boy with them. their diagnostic computer is not showing any faults, so they have a water hose on the screen with the wipers on but as yet they have not stopped. Any ideas, thanks, Alan. Read more
Just to put this thread to bed, the mechanic reckoned that the 'park' sensor in the wiper motor was defective and so the wiper motor was replaced and all under the RAC warranty that came with the Freelander. Well pleased, now all we need is some rain to check it (at some stage). Thanks again, Alan.
Surely with a car like a diesel Mazda with a huge reputation for terminal engine problems you want as long a warranty as possible and not zero warranty.
