January 2017
A very useful list, which I shall print off and retain for reference during the year. I use only 2 of the winners at present, and plan to increase this during 2017. I would like to see more products winning awards in 2018. Read more
Until the new RFL is brought in later this year, meaning that second hand values will stay strong Read more
Why didn't these 'experts' whinge-on about this in 2008 when the pound was devalued 33%, far more that the 18% against the dollar now. And for several years since, the pound was much weaker than the Euro than now, including almost parity for many months.
The new XC90 suffers from appalling road noise and resonance on some surfaces. There are 90 plus pages of comments on the Volvo owners forum. Volvo withdrew their own forum due the growing criticism of the car. My experience with an MY xc90 was so bad that I traded it in for a Q7 within six months of unhappy ownership. Read more
Hi all,
Looking to swap out the factory radio head unit for a nice 8" screen multi-function unit. I was just wondering what the USB cable adaptor is for on the new radio unit, my only guess would be for power but I thought that wouldve came off the wiring harness?? ... Read more
Power comes via the large square quadlock connector and the canbus box.The usb connector will be for external audio source ie i-phone.

I wanted a brand new Fiat 500 Abarth, but was not too happy at the list price.
After several weeks of internet searching, my luck was in, as a well established Fiat dealership, had five pre registered cars for sale, all brand new with delivery mileage.
Their asking price was £10495, and with the cars added options, i eventually saved just over £5000 off the list price.
I may be the cars second owner, and the warranty might be twelve weeks older than i would have liked, but i intend keeping the car for quite a few years, so none of this worries me.
Five thousand pounds off a delivery mileage new 66 plate car, was too good to turn down.
Hello,
I am planning on buying a Vw Tiguan 2016 MK1. I was planning on buying a Sport 2.0TDI with heated leather seats, sat nav, Bluetooth. But the garage is also offering a R-line model for €2000 extra. Can you please tell me is it worth spending the extra money and will I see the benefits when I trade the car again down the line.... Read more
It's also worth looking at the Skoda Yeti, which will do a similar job for less money.
I had some Carplan Windscreen wash, and wanted to know what "severe winter conditions" meant, since that was when you were not supposed to dilute the screenwash.
I was astonished to find that undiluted, it protected the wash to -3 degrees. I suggested that that might be appropriate for, perhaps north Africa or the Caribbean, certainly not the Scottish hhighlands, ... or London!... Read more
Or you might just distil some ....
I'm naive though. For what purpose and in what apparatus?...
Hi Everybody,
I have a 2006 Ford Focus with a Sony Radio. I put the car into the garage over christmas and took an initial hit on a fly wheel and clutch. Then I suffered a killer blow when I drove off and realised my radio didn't work any more. "You'll have to go to a dealer" said my garage mate. "I'd rather watch Sunderland!" came the reply!.... Looking for some 'leather' seat covers to go on the cloth seats of my old Discovery. Have been browsing Amazon and come across these, link below.
Reviews are generally pretty good but I'd be interested to hear what you guys think. I'm only interested in comfort, softer the better. Any other suggestions welcome! Thanks... Read more
Very interesting, i'll give these a look. Wasn't aware they were cool when the weather is hot. Thank goodness for aircon or i'd be in a mobile greenhouse.
I have browsed the grey import classifieds many times looking at those Japanese luxury barges. Some fascinating cars, would love to try the Century with a v12 in it. The older Mitsubishi Dignity and the Nissan President look interesting too. A mitsubishi saloon with a 4.5 v8! Not sure if velour is my kinda thing, the plush leather in the back of an old Lincoln Town Car seemed great to me!
I am looking at 2015 Corsas. I believe that was the year a new model was introduced. My local dealer has the older model with a high spec. and the newer car which is a more basic model. I do about 15000 miles per year and hope to change in 3 or 4 years. I think with this trade in value in mind I should buy the later model. I would value an opinion on this please. Read more
The newer model is a vastly superior car despite similar looks. The gadgets will make no difference to the value in 3yrs/45,000 miles whereas the more modern design will help a little plus I always advocate keeping things as simple as possible regarding motoring, it's just less unnecessary bits and bobs to go wrong.
What model and engines are you looking at here anyway? I'm assuming you're avoiding the Fiat diesels and sticking with petrol?

Agree that this is a useful list. Would be reassuring to see confirmation that there is no financial or other advantage to HJ.co.uk in recommending the businesses concerned.
