Just wondered if any one can help. A man pulled out into me 3 months ago catching my wing, I swerved and ran into a car on the opposite side of the road. Finally after insurance arguments about liability the car is at the garage. No obvious damage to the bumper ( plastic) but the mental bar behind is very dented. The garage suggested this may not have caused in this accident. It was I am the only person who has driven the car since new. They also suggested the insurance won't fix it. Know I'm worrying about something that hasn't happened yet but just wondered where I stand with the potential argument? Thanks Read more
The car will be examined by the insurance company assessor and he will authorise the repair, so you will need to wait and see, and if neccessary take it up with your insurance company
Can anyone help? I bought a seat alhambrs diesel on a 55 plate with 83k on the clock from a dealer for £3725 last week. The car was sold as having integrated dvd system and sir con as well as being Road worthy. I bought the car on the Tuesday, on the Wednesday driving to work I noticed that the car was losing power on hills. I informed the seller straight away (within about 14 hours of purchase) and returned the vehicle to him within 24 hours of purchase to rectify the power fault, the dvd system which didn't work and the air conditioning which also didn't work. After several attempts to phone him I finally done to him and he told me that his duagnostic tool had told him it was a faulty boost control Solenoid. I had already had a vagcom run on it and it came up as boost control fault and code, (but to my knowledge no machine can narrow this down to one fault please correct me if I'm wrong but it requires exploration to find out what is causing the boost control fault not just changing the solenoid). He told me he would get the air con and dvd player fixed while it was in with him. He delivered the vehicle back to me on Wednesday the week later. Upon driving to work the next day I noticed the power fault again on a steep hill ( no engine lights but losing power almost like limp mode) also the air conditioning hasn't been fixed and neither has the dvd player. I spoke to the seller and asked for s refund and he has told me the fault had been fixed and was fine when test driven. I returned the car to him on the Friday (his earliest convenience) and again asked for a refund as I was rejecting the vehicle under SOGA which he refused as he couldn't find s fault. We went for a drive but there was nowhere hilly enough round by his garage (I live 20 miles away in a much hillierarea) I managed to get the car to do it on a short Hill but the seller them turned the engine off which rectified the fault until it happened again. Typically it didn't happen again as realistically the fault only happens on steep hills. The trader rejected my claims for a refund and is sending it to vw for s diagnosis, my concern is that he will have wiped any fault codes prior to sending it to them. For me, the car is losing power on steep hills, I go over these every day for work, the dvd system was a major settling point of the car, despite several requests and promises that it has been fixed, it still doesn't work, same with the air con. I have only held the car for 2 days, both of which the faults appeared, it is has been in the garage for 9 days, with no offer of courtesy car.

On the information given you can reject, but that doesnt mean the seller will imediately refund your money. So you may have to issue a small court claim. You will then need to store the car securely and purchase a replacement whilst the court process grinds on - anticipate a year or so
£3725 is cheap for a diesel of that year/mileage...
Hello, looking for help with fault on my Vectra, the Computer shows Cam Sensor fault but after installation of new one it is actually worse, and when you hit a bump on road, engine stops, so reinstalled new one, it appears to be some sort of bad connection but Sensor wiringt actually looks in good order, I also noticed that the Engine Management Light on dash is not always on and hitting a good size bump brings it on, When it sgoing it runs smoothly and good excelleration, all appears normal (until the dreaded bump)
Any ideas or experience on this curly one?... Read more
I had this on my previous Vectra. It turned out that the lead from the crank sensor had chafed and was shorting out.

The chevrolet kalos is a GM/Daewoo product, nothing to do with a renault KOLEOS.
Having recently bought a late 2001 (november) 51plate Mercedes C class estate, I am suprised of how much rust is appearing on the car, I bought it because of the space, history, and quality of the car itself, That and it being in an unusual dark graphite metalic colour (which i like very much), BUT being over ten years old, i didnt expect a mint car for under a grand.
I have read honest johns reviews and apparantly MB offered a warranty over corrosion as the bodies were all gavalanized?.... Read more
The best way is to ring around local classic car specialists to find one that will pressure spray an anti-corrosion agent into the sills, chassis box sections, doors etc using a powered compressor and various wands to get inside the various drain holes etc. The really damaging corrosion comes from the inside out.
It cost me £75, 20 years back. The car was still in excellent condition when I sold it, and is still registered as being on the road ......
Am in a bit of a predicament, i have been fortunate enough to pass my driving test and save up enough money to buy a faily new car, theses are the two i have narrowed down my list two they both have there own unique features but which is the best option to go for? bear in mind that am under 25 and over 21, so insurance has a factor too place too. They are both in the automatic model as this is my prefered transmision. Any input will be greately appricated.

To add to Avants post, i too would be looking at Korean automatics primarily, in all (i think) cases the auto box will be a proper torque converter auto box.
There is a world of difference between a TC auto and the automated manual box as found in Aygo/C1/107, basically an automated manual is exactly that, its a manual box with the same clutch but operated by the vehicles brain for you as you increase throttle, on the open road you won't notice the difference too much but in heavy traffic and when parking especially the differences will be huge....

Please would someone remind me of the name of the Insurance Company through whom one can take out roadside assistance which you pay for at the time of needing help and then claim back from the Insurers. Read more
I just got onward recovery with passengers and homestart for £28.85 + bit of cashback by buying via quidco, a cashback website. No need to claim, just call and let them get on with it, BUT, hopefully I won't be needing it.
Sorry, forgot to add, was from Kwikfit............... insurance services.

At my last place of work it was company policy that anyone found to be using a hand held phone whilst driving on company bussiness would be dismissed. Only Directors had hands free kits fitted FOC.
Every year licences were requested by the HR dept (for insurance purposes) and copied. Any convictions relating to Mobile Phone use and the person was required to produce further evidence about the date and time of the offence etc. If proven to be during working work hours it was goodbye....
