I don't think it will have much effect because of the "somebody else not me" thinking.

It won't have any affect. I see people gawping at their mobile phones all the time while driving.

They won't worry about the consequences until afterwards. Sometimes accidents are unavoidable, that's life. But looking at your mobile phone is just asking for trouble. People who think they can multi task - it's hogwash. I know someone is using their mobile phone in a slow moving queue of traffic because there is a massive gap developing ahead of them, or they'll start to veer across the white lines.

There is an episode of traffic cops where a car waiting behind a queue was turned into a unrecognizable lump of metal by a lorry driver gawping at his phone. They couldn't remove the dead young girl until the car had been cut open. I think she was starting a new job.

They should show that to people. It's heart rending.

At my last place of work it was company policy that anyone found to be using a hand held phone whilst driving on company bussiness would be dismissed. Only Directors had hands free kits fitted FOC.

Every year licences were requested by the HR dept (for insurance purposes) and copied. Any convictions relating to Mobile Phone use and the person was required to produce further evidence about the date and time of the offence etc. If proven to be during working work hours it was goodbye.

Must have worked, no one was ever sacked.
