With respect, that is why you have insurance - to cover the CDW excess. It won't make it difficult for you to get it again as you will not be asked if youi have claimed on it previously. The car hire company will not repair your "damage" and will charge the next hirer as well, unless they notice the damage before they drive away!

Welcome to the forum, David. That's very poor for a diesel: you'll find that even the VAG petrols can do better than that, even the 2.0 GTI engine in mine.

A few years ago I had a Mercedes B200 CDI whuich averaged 39 mpg, so you're not the only one.

My 10 y-old car is being MOTed tomorrow and I may need to order new discs & brake pads. Last time they needed replacing, the garage (dealer) charged me a fortune for them and, since I may not keep the car very long (even if it passes), I 'd like to order them on the Net, I'm sure they'd be much cheaper.

I 'd be very grateful if you could recommend a reliable car parts website. Thanks in advance for your help. Read more

Stationery in traffic when driver hit me in the rear. No idependant witnesses. My car has been repaired. 7 months later other driver has not admitted liability. He claims I "rolled" back into him. My floorplan was creased and the repairer estimated impact at 15 mph. Some rollback at speed I would have needed to do that amount of damage to my car. I have legal protection and a solicitor involved. I want to speed things up. I cant believe its going so slow. Solicitor says "due process"needs to be followed and things can take this time. Other driver has not completed his own version of events (his own witness statement) and also he has not made a claim against me for the limited damage to his car. I know that small claims court is an option. Read more

My legal cover is a standalone product and is not through my insurer. Its not helped to speed things up.

The engine in the V8 Volvo is actually manufactered by Yamaha-Volvo have only ever made one V8 previously, a 3.6 litre pushrod iron block-iron head lump used as a marine engine and as a truck engine. It was basically two B18 engines on a common crankcase.

Actually, the Dartford Crossing is free overnight after 10pm, but you must still stop for the barrier to rise before progressing (even with a Dart Tag)
