I have decided to go down the LPG route having been advised that small diesel cars can be troublesome. I assume the amount of miles the car does on petrol etc will be the same in gas, so I would need a high mpg petrol car. Could anyone recommend something like a fiesta, Peugeot ???
Any advice would be appreciated. Read more
I will convert to LPG engine Toyota Yarris or Opel Corsa.
For your convinience, you can compare petrol cost and LPG cost for a route in...

My car suffered "chugging" when accelarating between 30 and 40 or going up hill.
Mb of Bath diagnosed the fault as glycol leaking into the transmission from the valeo radiator. This is a common fault which MB are well aware of and did not recall the cars or inform the owners of the potential financial ticking time bomb. MB of Bath did not fix my fault and returned the car to me with gear box issues which were not there when I gave them the car, and in addition on their invoce the told me not to drive the car as that would further damage the car. I am taking MB of Bath to court. I would welcome any comments/advise/experiences. Read more
The total number of properly serviced vehicles with the autogearbox/Valeo problem is extremely small compared with the total cars produced ,when a car such as this has a proper service history and I repeat a proper service history and a fault arises due to faulty workmanship then Daimler will look upon it very kindly. My son has been in business for many years he prefers BMW l prefer Mercedes ,
What is in the service schedule which makes any difference to this fault?...
I have a Japanese import and the radio is programmed to get their channels and ours are mainly out of the bandwidth. Halfords will sell me a radio but want £200 to fit it as they say they is a lot to do changing the wiring etc....hmmmm. I have seen some converters for about £20.

I just ditched the Jap stuff in my Estima import and replaced it with a modern Toyota compatible double din head unit off eBay for about £120 IIRC....I wanted the bluetooth facility.
Im thinking of buying a used Vauxhall Zafira Tourer, I only do about 10.000 miles a year, so im looking at the 1.4 turbo. I know Honest John said the 1.4 turbo is a good engine. What I want to know is it good going up big hills with a full load. I don't want a car that struggles, but I also don't want a deisel because I never do the miles to make it worth while. It would only do 600 mile round trip once a year when we go on holiday. So any advice would be great. Read more
Yes the Meriva does look look like a nice Mini Mpv, I need the extra seats when the kids are off school. I know the Ford S Max is a better car, just too expensive even used. I can get a better deal for a low milage Zafira Tourer, and as I dont do high milage the 1.4 fits the bill.

Took it into the garage with an exhaust rattle. At best, I hoped it just needed a new bracket. At worst, maybe a new back box.... Read more

I have a 2010 Ford Ka and the heater fan speed only works on speed 4. I have read speeds 1, 2 & 3 are controlled via a heater resistor and it is highly likely the resistor has failed, I also understand the failure may be caused by a faulty heater blower motor. I have also read the MKI Ka's, (old shape), heater resistors were easily accessible in the passenger footwell but the new shape Ka's heater resistors are located behind the dashboard and more difficult to get to.... My daughter has just had the same thing. Told they replaced the thermal fuse. It's a new shame ka and been told it's a pig of a job compared to the old shape ka. Is that correct? Or as you say is it just one screw in the new shape also.
My rear offside lamp was damaged and had to be replaced (the bit on the main body, not on the tailgate). The stop bulb also was out, so I replaced that too. After fitting the new lamp and stop bulb, the stop lamp is on full brightness even when the brake is not depressed. Nearside works fine: i.e. it brightens when brake is pressed.
Any ideas what I've done wrong? Read more
Sorry it's taken a while to report back. I bought two new bulbs and fitted them and all is well. It's quite possible that I fitted the bulb the wrong way round - didn't know that the orientation mattered. Can't be bothered to pull the unit out again and test it but all is well.
How did you do this?
