Hello,
I'm wondering whether any forum users have had any experience with the above broker they'd be willing to share. I'm interested in the new Suzuki S Cross which uk-car-discount offer at a very substantial discount compared to dealers' list prices. However, there doesn't seem to be very much info about this broker, the most recent posts on this forum date from as far back as 2007. Has anyone used them more recently, and if so what has been your experience? I'm aware uk-car-discount advertise regularly on this site's 'Best deals' section but I'm still a bit twitchy about ordering without recommendation, so I'll be very grateful for any feedback.... Can anyone advise me what RAV4 3 door to get? Im at my wits end id like an XTR 3 dr....but i dont know whether to get petrol or diesel or manual or anutomatic, as i cant find any info on this? Thanks Read more
Thanks for that info, ive heard the clutch isnt too good as well, its all so confusing i would be buying a 2004-2006, Toyota stopped making them in 2006 anyway (3 dr). I am also looking at the Honda HRV and i do like the look of the Shogun, i only have a small parking space, so im limited. Cheers.
Hi all,
I need an urgent response on this please. Someone scrapped my rear bumper on a 2007 Ford Focus while it was parked up on the road. The damage is a dinner plate size of deep scuffing (the top transparent protective film is all cracked), with the metal overlapping tape on the edge of the bumper all crunched up. It looks worse than it sounds but it is very noticable. I simply thought the bumper was a charcoal bumper which had been coloured sprayed, didn't release there is protective film and metal edge tapping used.
My questions are:
1) If I went through an insurance company would they simply pay for the bumper to be replaced or will they instruct a repair job?
2) How much would a repair job be (bear in mind its only a dinner plate size on the bumper's side) and how much would a new rear bumper be?
3) Not sure if I should go through their insurance company or suggest to get it done privately?? - hence why I asking about costing advice from you guys.... Read more
Can't really help you with your query but if it was me I would get a secondhandhand bumper from a scrapyard, there are lots of them on ebay from about £10.00
My 2001 Merc Vito CDi EDC light keeps coming on and engine cuts out. I wait 2 mins and it works again. It started since I put petrol in it but initially only on motorway when revving up to overtake. Now it does it if I go over 2000rpm. Had the petrol cleared out (soon as i put it in) by a mechanic who isn't a computerised engine expert! Had 2 diagnostics run on it, one with merc diagnostics, only glow plugs show up. The glow plug heater unit has been disconnected. Mechanic said glow plugs irrelevant on modern vitos. How do I progress from here?? Read more
He hasn't checked the fuel pressure system. Is that likely to be a problem?
A friend said he had the same problem and it turned out to be a relay switch costing £10 but didn't show up on the diagnostics. how do you to find out if that's the problem if the diagnostics doesn't find it?!
I have a slight misfire at around 35mph / 1600rpm on a light but constant throttle, also when in park, and revvec to same rpm a roughness/ imbalance can be felt. Economy seems poor too, 34mpg driving very carefully at 75mph..
Gearbox also seems sometimes uncertain which gear to be in and sometimes the revs flare a bit on shifting. This morning it seemed to only start on not all cylinders for a second or so too. No warning lights show. Dealer has done a software update re the injectors under warranty and changed a driveshaft but problems persist. Its driving me mad. Does anyone have any suggestions?, dealer seems to have lost interest and i've only had car since september!. Read more
Have a look here, this may help in finding what's where in the engine bay: some good underbonnet pics. Admittedly on an S80, but it's the same layout.

If an egr valve is sticking or failing would it produce grey exhaust when at 1500-2000rpm or when changing gears? Read more
It sounds like you are loosing compression through the injector seal where you see the black gunge. It is probably the cause of the smoke, but in any case needs fixing ASAP before it causes further problems.

Having just taken ownership of an MG TF, I need to keep an eye on the coolant religiously to avoid HGF. I am not convinced that the coolant in the tank is O.A.T, so would therefore like to drain and flush it and refill.
Time and hours of daylight are a problem right now so how much would a garage charge for this, roughly? Read more

I mean, I stop the car, get out and go to open the rear door or the boot. I cannot keep them open. I have to manually flick the unlock button the driver's door. It's very annoying. The automatic lockng on my Avensis saved my wife from being car jacked whilst staionary at traffic lights. I'm a fan.
I need to remove my drivers airbag (column with 3 stalks) and was told there are screws or clips behind the steering wheel which required to be removed but I can't see any holes / screws or clips at all behind the wheel. Does this type of airbag just lever off?. Can anyone help in the steps to change over this complete stalk system as it is very expensive and I don't want to get it wrong. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi,
New member here and I would be very grateful of any opinions you may have on the following...... Read more
It's a known issue, VAG wide. My 2 year old Yeti recently had to have the compressor replaced, no quibblling, under warranty. However, I won't have the vehicle out of warranty. SOGA might apply, but I don't want the bother of a struggle to get something fixed. Replacement will probably not be VAG though!
So the aircon compressors(made by Valeo I believe) failed on the Mk 5 Golf and other derivatives, and now they are failing on the Mk 6's, but for a different reason....

Hi oldtoffee, thanks for this info, it's very detailed and helpful, so I'll have a close look for signs of 'bubbling' if I decide to go for the car.
Galad, quizman, skidpan, thanks for the posts. I'd feel far more confident to buy the car if it was through drivethedeal or carfile, as these brokers get really good feedback. Unfortunately, neither of them sell the S Cross, or any Suzuki for that matter -- wonder why that is, perhaps because Suzuki haven't tapped into the fleet market yet?
