Looking for a full set of tyres, I notice that some for this model in 205 / 70 R15 can be bought as either standard or XL, both the same price.

Reading explanations of the XL rating, I'm still not clear which would be best suited to the Forester.... Read more

I've seen many examples where the higher speed rating has been cheaper than the otherwise identical tyre - it's to do with sales volume and supply & demand.

My own 235/60 R18 were cheaper as 107V (ie XL) than 103V, with both cheaper than 103H.

Hello all, My son has only had his car a few weeks and hey presto the belt has come off, worrying he informs me a bit shredded. I am sure we can sort the replacement belt but is shredding a sure sign of a pulley fault or oil /coolant leak or could it simply be worn, many thanks for any contributions, Brian. Read more

I was reading an article this morning that BMW will be focusing on electric technology as that is the only way they can meet future emmissions regulations - even if that is not what customers want. It is no secret that they are sharing hybrid technology with Toyota - presumably to play catch up. I must now smile at all the negative comments posted on various forums regarding hybrid technology and all the people that criticised Honda and Toyota claiming diesel was superior. it now seems that Toyota and Honda were right all along - even if we think that diesels are better - it seems we will not be ble to afford the technology needed to get emmissions down. Not sure I would be happy buying a hybrid with my own money but looks like in years to come we will have no choice. Read more

I think Honda and especially Toyota having launched models before other say less reliable manufacturers, helps the credibility of hybrids.

If the first models on the UK market had been riddled with problems ( and we all can think of manufacturers to whom this might have applied), the technlogy may have fallen at the first fence....

Hi,

I'm looking at buying this car and noticed a few scratches in the photos (see below - wheel arch). How easy do you think it is to get these out?... Read more

Galaxy

Very easy if you ask someone like "Chips Away" to do it! They do this sort of work all the time.

I'd be asking the dealer to get it done before collection, anyway. FOC, of course!...

Any known insurers offering cover against small dents, scratches and scuffs? Read more

Your best insurance against such things is to find that elusive little one man and his dog bodyshop (or good smart repairer) and let him sort the dings out over a few days, much more cost effective than using a faceless profit is all company.
