Hi. Today the oil pressure & stop light came on. I took the car straight to the garage. The oil level is spot on. The garage have suggested that the oil pressure sensor could be faulty. If its not that then it could be the oil pump. My question is my 2007 clio has 25000 miles on the clock. Would it be unusual for a oil pump to fail at this milage and if it has failed how much could I expect to pay for the repairs? Thanks Read more

Amyway, the whole point is that the dip stick is IMPOSSIBLE to read. I'm not negating my own responsibility in all this, but it isn't fit for purpose. I ws told that the cooper engine needs a lot of oil - just not THAT much, The dipstick kept teling me that the oil was low...
Didn't put it my first post in this thread but my Mrs had a Cooper S for 2 1/2 years. In that time we never added any oil and never had a problem reading the dipstick.
You will have learned by now that one persons supposed fact is not necessarilly the truth i.e. the Cooper engine needs a lot of oil, some may do but many will not. That is a fact with all engines....

I'm looking for info or a diagram of the Vw/Audi AVB 1.9 Tdi vacuum hose setup
I've just replaced the stock Avb turbo with an Audi AWX (Gt1749va), whilst doing this all vacuum hoses we're replaced one at a time off and straight back on.
The air box was off for two days whilst awaiting an AWX lower boost hose so I think it's one from there to the Egr or thereabouts as I've probably mixed them up.
To sum it up the cars fine apart from no boost :-( this was part of the reason to fit a new turbo (sticking veins/worn seals), and a remap at a later date.
Any help appreciated, I've only been able to find the Jetta diagram online which looks a bit different. Brakes etc are fine, it's only a boost issue.

Here's a link to the diagram I have, from a VAG shop manual:

Another vote for Mr Muscle. No sure on the age of your car, but check all vacuum pipes and ensure the vanes move freely after cleaning
Hello,
After changing the battery everything in the car is working fine, bar the CD player. When I try to eject the disc it just makes a clicking sound as if the mechanism is trying to push the disc out, but it stays in. The radio is working, and the current CD will play.... Read more
Many thanks for the link. However I think it looks too tricky/time consuming/prone to failure for me so I'll make do with the radio...until I get totally fed up with the CD that's in it and stump up the cash for Clarion or the local s******ship.
Difficult to hand over money to fix a ten year old car unless it's for essential work!
Hello there
Just wanted your advice about my car. I have it serviced regularly, drive mainly motorway miles and was serviced about 5 months ago. Done about 39,000. Car SORNed for a year last year. The car sounded like the car would cut out when it was idling about 4 months ago. Fuel filter was changed, fuel injector cleaner used and fuel injector position 3 was changed. This resolved most of the problems but it is still not quite right although it's better.... Read more
Even though the compressions are low - it depends on how low. I've always been amazed over the years as to how well some cars run with low readings. !
I agree, I've seen the 3 cyl 1.2's run with very little ill effect with 80psi or so more than one cylinder, that's why I suggested the leakage test. As long as there's 10% or so pressure loss per cylinder then the engine is in pretty good shape. Any more suggests a fault so it's best practice to remove the oil filler cap, dipstick and coolant header tank cap and listen/look for any escaping air (I use a stethoscope for this). ...

It was a tank on the early models then went to a non-refillable bag or pouch, although I have heard that some people have managed to refil them.
I've just had a look at a 207 with a DPF on Peugeot servicebox and found its still listed as being present - ADDITIVE POUCH at £97....
I'm hoping we have some GM experts out there...

"the pump is not turning when we crank the engine",is the comment from your previous post. Are you sure the cambelt is not broken?
Would appreciate members' thoughts on this.

< I get the impression Japanese parts have a reputation for being expensive in general, and particularly the lower production volume models I suppose since there'll be fewer pattern-part makers. >
As I compared the price of Pug parts earlier, it may be fair to remark that car prices have fallen in real terms - twenty years ago the 205 range cost £6500 to £14500 for the soft-top. Makers have had to compete, and more income now comes from selling parts....

When the light came on you should have turned the engine off not driven it to the garage I hope it is just a faulty sensor .
