Hi
Im looking for advice on a problem that I have been experiencing with my new Toyota Aygo (62 reg). From the day of purchase I noticed some misting in the back and front headlight units of the car. I have already once had all the lights replaced after a long battle with Toyota UK and Currie Motors. Shortly after I experienced the same problem again, misting in the front lights and condensation along the bottom and side of the rear light units. I was advised following my previous complaint that there is no problem if the misting rectifies itself in 30mins. The misting infact turns to condensation. Predicting Currie Motors reponse to the problem, I took advice from the garage and took detailed pictures of the misting anfdcondensation and took the car and photos back to the garage hoping for an explaination as to why it keeps happening. As predicited , I have now had another call to tell me that they cant fix it unless they see the problem for their own eyes. I dont have time to be driving back and forth to the garage and having the lights changed isclearly not going to fix the solution. ... Read more
Cambelt failed at 60K on 2004 plate Touran. Kit and belt changed by independent garage at 41K in 2010. problem with belt 14 months ago, same garage changed whole kit and water pump at 51K. Now belt has suffered catastrophic failure (VW dealer investigating cause). Do I have any claim with the independent garage? Belt seems to have been fitted okay (as the car has done over 7k miles since fitment) but this looks like component failure (Eg Water pump, tensioner, belt or pulley). Read more
Sibbo - sorry to heare of your problems. Do consider a petrol engine for your next car: we hear too many stories like yours of expensive failure on diesels where age seems to be a factor as much as mileage.
I don't know what your budget is but there should be a Toyota Corolla Verso to suit it. If you're going for something newer, the Mazda 5 is worth a look; if you need something of similar age to the Touran, see if you can find a Honda Stream.
Got a problem, customer brought a van to the garage, saying that the vans been at another garage who did the timing chain and now ever since they touched it
, it hasn't ran properly.
Ok checked the timing, it's perfect, thought ill put my op com onto it, only fault code coming up is b3059 immobliser fault no engine request, any ideas? So far I've been going crazy haha.all fuel pressure, injectors working fine, u can see all the engine wanting to work but no fire, also changed ecu set, coded injectors, changed engine fuel wiring harness, crank/cam, mass air flow, I'm guessing wiring fault inside the car somwhere, anyone point me in a good direction? Thank you for a comment yesterday, but the writer mentioned the model 206cc, my car is the later version, a 207cc.
I bought this car a year ago as brand new. Car vibrates at 30mph, 40 mph and about 55 mph mainly through steering wheel. With the roof down, the vibration is much worse and is present from 25 mph to 40 mph.... Read more

Anyone give me a definative answer on the belt change interval? Just bought mine and has service history . Last service was at 83000 miles and it was recomended then. It now has 93000 miles on it and can't see any record of the belt being done. Have heard some say the interval is up to 15000 miles or 10 years! Read more
Depends on the age of the car it will say in the service book at what intervals it needs changing,eg 54 plate 1.6hdi was 150k a 54 plate 2.0hdi was 100k 2009 both 1.6hdi and 2.0hdi change is at 150k.This is due to long life belts being fitted on later models when the change was is anybodys guess so look in the service book.
Last Septembe I bought a 12 Plate Seat Leon 1.6 Economtive. After a short while the engine started cutting out on me (not the normal automatic stop/start). Every time I took it in to the dealer, I was told that the fault was registering as a sensor fault. They never changed the sensor as they said there was nothing wrong with it, it was actually out of alignment which caused the engine to cut out whilst driving.
This is very scary and after several months of the car spending more time with them than with me they swopped it for another, same make, model and age. I was really pleased with the salesman who arranged this, although not pleased at all with the attitude of the service team.... Read more

I receied a Enforcement Notice from APCOA giving me the opportunity to pay a fine for stopping/dropping off in a non drop off area. Actually it was my first time to dropping off someone at luton airport so i was driving bit slow to see where is dropping off point but suddenly at small roundabout my car engine stop and my firend just took off from there. Because he was getting late and didnt have any luggage it took me only 5 secs to drive away from there. Any advice please?

You may have found your simple get-out clause, but I would still suggest you take a look at Pepipoo, where there are some suggested letters.
My wife's Punto is an 07 reg, and the boot lock will not operate by either the dashboard button or the key fob. There is no key acess from outside so the local Fiat dealer has advised that it will probably require a new unit which will cost £88 incl. parts, labour and VAT. That seems very expensive so are there any suppliers who will sell a new lock that I can get fitted by our local garage or can the existing unit be refurbished ?. I have recently replaced the battery in the key fob but to no avail.
At the moment we can only acess the boot by dropping the back seats.... Read more
You have a 5+ year old car that has gone wrong and needs a new lock for £88.Sounds cheap to me.A second hand lock may be available ,but will probably have the same problem.
Rac administered top level cover from only £60 if you already have a VW, Audi or Skoda covered by them. I got 2 years for my Crafter for only £110 in Full European cover etc.
Otherwise it's £89/1yr or £155/2yrs. Much better price than AA / RAC inflated renewals... Read more
Greenflag used ti be good, rescued me.
I understand from the various threads on here that diesel engines can take up to 10,000 miles before you start to achieve your optimum economy, but does that also apply to petrol engines?
My 2013 1.6 Zafira only has about 1500 miles on it and is averaging about 32-33mpg which is disappointing considering a) its a pretty slow car and b) I have a pretty gentle (top speed 50-60mph) commute)... Read more
I'd have thought that the warmer weather is the most likely candidate. The engine will be spending more time at operating temperature and thus less time running enriched during your daily commute.
It doesn't help that when it's cold you'll also be using the heater, which has the side effect of lengthening the time taken to warm up fully from cold.
condensation in light units-is it normal ? er yes and no
i have a new hyundai and my headlights do fog over every now and again, its to do with the different temperature inside the unit and the outside temperature, even explains this in my handbook,my previous car a fiat 500 never had this problem at all though, but if water is getting into them thats a different matter,i know when you get a new car you can get paranoid about some things so get someone you know to look at it to give you a second opinion,,good luck,,,,,,,,,,,,,
