Cheap Roadside Assistance from VW, Audi & Skoda - VW & Seat owner

Rac administered top level cover from only £60 if you already have a VW, Audi or Skoda covered by them. I got 2 years for my Crafter for only £110 in Full European cover etc.

Otherwise it's £89/1yr or £155/2yrs. Much better price than AA / RAC inflated renewals

Sorry VAG fan it is beaten by the Toyota cover that my wife has had on her Corolla since 2006 (free for first 3 years) at £54 a year. That too inlcudes everything you can get from the RAC.

All part of the club Toyota scheme and you do not have to have thecar serviced at the dealer for that either.

PS - Yours is a good deal.

Yep, just renewed my AA cover through Club Toyota too. Full breakdown cover, home start etc and includes European cover too. All for £65. Mind you being a Toyota I don't expect to have to use it.

We have Aviva rescue, had it for many years now. The Personal Joint Policy we have covers myself and the wife when we are driving or passenger in ANY car. We are covered for rescue, recovery, onward travel and at-home. All for £60 a year. When needed the RAC attends.

Dad has Aviva rescue on his insurance policy. Same level of cover as us but it only covers the car named on the insurance policy. £35 a year.

I always regard the cover provided under the car warranty as worthless - specifically when provided by AA or RAC.

When my Vauxhall lost all it's automatic transmission fluid it took the AA 4 hours to get to me. When my Hyundai immobiliser activated, the RAC couldn't get there within 4 hours - that wouldn't be a flatbed, it would only be a patrol to assess and then order the flatbed - necessary as 4wd automatics can't be towed. Both these incidents were in major populated areas.

On three occasions, following accident damage, Green Flag arrived within the hour with a flatbed (requested by me) and got me home. Yes, they were contractors - but contractors with the right recovery vehicle are worth far more than own patrols with the wrong vehicle.

I just keep my Green Flag policy going even though I may have free cover under the warranty from AA or RAC.

Myself and a mate once had a long chat with a breakdown bloke at his garage, after a tow in, while we waited for the flatbed to turn up to transport us and the car home.

His mob covered that stretch of the A1 for the usual suspects (Green Flag, Europ Assistance and the Insurers' own), but also covered for the AA and RAC when they could not attend.

He really hated the RAC jobs. The reason being that they only ever resorted to using him after they'd waited until the customer was doing his pieces over the phone at them and still had no sight of when they'd have one of their own available. Turning up to an RAC job invariably meant getting a stream of spittle-flecked invective from their irate member, who'd usually been standing around in the teeming rain for somewhat over four hours by then.

Edit: Going back on topic, Toyota are providing a year's full European cover for 29 Euro in these parts.

Poor service when you need them doesn't make up for a "better" price or deal.

Often the AA/RAC simply transport you from one motorway service area to another so you may have several waiting periods before you actually get home - Green Flag's contractors normally do it all in one go.

Why are people so obsessed with "free" - have they no sense of value ?

Anyway it's not free, it comes out of something else you've paid for that you could have got cheaper without the "free" offer.

If you look at what you can get your Ford serviced for by an indie rather than Ford, you'll understand how they provide this "free".
