Has Nissan cut Leaf's price because now its cheaper to build?
Will the price fall further once production begins in Sunderland?
At £239 per month Leaf is just begining to look affordable. Read more

It does not say anywhere the warranty is dependant on the speed limit. They would never sell a van if it was true which it isnt.

my temp gauge is erratic. barely moves but on a long motorway run it hit middle. i knew of a water leak but thought i had sorted it with radweld. shorter journeys made the 'check coolant' message show on dash, but never made temp gauge move. a good motorway run made gauge get to middle. then back to nil. then eventually middle again (90f) then went as high as 110, water boiling, but no 'check coolant' message. i do have a replacement stat. car drives fine, though IMO slightly down on fuel economy compared to book figures. recently changed oil. no mayo or sludge. header tank looks sound. no obvious leaks anywhere. engine has only done 61k. could the stat be causing water loss? water pump and cambelt changed 9 months ago. help! You can check for head gasket leakage by placing a receptical under the end of the overflow pipe on the header tank, if it has a lot of coolant in it after a journey that's what the problem will be.

You may see signs of coolant ejection around the filler cap and overflow pipe it shows up as a whitish deposit.

I have a problem with my climate control when i restart the car it only blows out cold air at very best just off cold, I have to do a system reset on the ETAC for it to kick in and blow warm/hot air out. I have changed the internal temperarture sensor ( the was only code that came up, once) but this has not cured it. Can i test the sensor out of the car? I would be greatful for advice, thanks Read more

Ive tried disconnecting the battery and done a system reset. No change i still have do a system reset to get heat out after i start the car.

Interesting figures release by Warranty Direct, although, as ever, not to be taken as absolute gospel, due to the different products manufacturers make.

Good result for Fiat, although the only make fairly conventional 4-cyl and smaller engines up to 2.0 in size, so perhaps they should do well. ... Read more

At the other end of the scale. Audi is in the doghouse. Now this is more damning, because whether Warranty Direct have only a few Audis on their books, or thousands, the ratio of engine failures is terrible

Er, no. Ratios only become meaningful when you have a statistically large set. Otherwise one faiilure can be the difference between "infinite" reliability (zero failures) and 50% (one out of two engines)....

nissan micra misfire

I have a 98 s reg nissan micra 1l and am having problems with it misfiring and chugging. I have changed the distributer coz it was coming up with that as a fault code. I have then changed the plugs, rotor arm, dizzy cap and the problem was still happening. I was then told it coil benthe throttle housing to which I changed but the problems still there. I have tried to get a fault code and it's saying 55 nothing is wrong with it. But there clearly is. Has anyone got an idea to fix this problem coz nobody at the garages I have been know what it is? I don't wanna be changing parts anymore coz it's not solving the problem in the end up to now. Thanks Read more

Tempest isn't a really appropriate name for a 1 litre Micra ! But I assume the makers decided that Micra owners have all the time in the world and that's why the Fuel Filler tube is so narrow and has a sprung trapdoor in the top, that it blows back when you fill up.

This causes the fuel delivery into the tank to slow to the rate of about 20 seconds per litre.... Read more

Hi, I've got a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager. The radiator was replaced in July, and in the last couple of months I noticed I'm getting virtually no heating in the car. Sometimes it will be warm for 30 seconds but then goes back to cold. I found the rad was faulty and have just had it replaced but still no heating inside. The guy did say he believes the thermostat needs replacing too, could that cause the issue with the heating? If not what else is it likely to be ? Read more

dmg195

Thanks for the response, I believe the temp gauge is showing as normal. I thought that if it was an air lock it would have been cleared when the new rad was fitted?

Sorry but not an expert, are you talking about the expansion tank when you say header tank unit?...

On that logic, we should disband the NHS tomorrow.. And kill everyine over 65...

No. But we should must apply logic consistently. If fat people, smokers and drinkers are expected to pay for the cost of their activities, then healthy people should pay for their longevity since they benefit disproportionately. There's a hypocritical logic in perceiving obesity as a "problem" and longevity as a "challenge".

Hi all,

I'm in the hunt for a new car and saw a good deal on a Mitsubishi automatic. I've never driven a Automatic before, neither even considered buying one but this deal has made me think.
I have read that people who drive Automatics never go back to Manual cars, unless they want responsiveness (control of the car's speed/injection).
Can I ask you your opinons on Automatics vs Manuals?
If I was to buy an Automatic then do I need a more powerful model (i.e. 1.8L) to make up for the less responsiveness or will a lesser powered model (i.e. 1.3L) but fine?... Read more

A fair amount of negative comments for CVT autos on here, but there are good ones out there. Particularly the Toyota Multidrive-S CVT mated to Toyota's excellent 1.8 valvematic petrol, available on the Avensis and Verso. I drove the Verso with this combo, it was excellent.

Fiat's dualogic automated manual is not bad either. Perhaps the only autobox on small engines worth considering. Little negative reliability reports either....
