Audis 4 x 4 use the Quattro system which is permanent and automatically adjusted to give the best grip.

With a complete idiot behind the wheel 4x4 or 2WD makes no difference.

Odd problem with my vectra, once every week or two while driving my vectra all of the electrics fail. Lights external and internal, heater, power steering all fail but radio stays on fine.

Now when I stop the car all the electrics come back on, start moving again and it all fails. Have checked alternator and batty and there both working fine. Any ideas?

I've just bought a 2010 Insignia Sport Tourer and noticed the luggage area light is not working. I've checked the bulb and that is OK. Does anyone know where the boot light switch is? or is it controlled by the body module from the tailgate release switch?

The additional rear lights come on with the boot opening if the lights are on Read more

Whatever the weight, you'll find the 1.3 Yaris a lot more lively and not much less econonical (as you don't have to use so much accelerator to get decent performance).

back in 2010 i was involved in a no fault accident while returning from holiday towing a caravan. My car was hit on a bend by a motorcyclist who had lost control, unfortunately he died at the scene and as a consequence my car and caravan were taken for police checks. My car was written off. a couple of days later the police released my caravan which i had to collect from their compound in S wales. My insurance company could only provide small coutesy car and only when mine was recovered to their accident centre, I obtained insurance details of the 3rd part from the police and contacted his insurer AXA. I was treated rather abrubtly by the customer rep and told until it was proved to be clients fault they wouldnt enter into any discussion. I tried to hire suitable car with towbar from Hertz, Avis and Budget, none had a suitable vehicle available.

I eventually was pointed towards Direct Accident Management who offered to deal with all aspects of the claim from hire car to recovery of costs. At this time I was still in a state of shock and very traumatised ( i was later diagnosed with post traumatic stress and depression caused by accident and was on medication for nearly a year ) so to have someone deal with it seemed wonderful.... Does your bank offer, and do you have on-line statements?

Of course a bank statement won't show all the details, and if you paid an expense with your credit card, it will get lost among other items you used the card for....

Hi I have a lucida 2.2 td 4wd. It currently has 16 Inch rims and I want to upgrade to tyres from the 205/65/16. Was looking at the all terrain tyres currently looking at 235 70 16 does anyone know if these will fit ok. I tried Google to see if anyone else has but nothing. Some advice would be great thanks. Oh any chance any one knows of a dump valve that I can put on too? I seen one with a subaru dump valve? Read more

It's not the all terrain tha will give you a problem, but the change in size you are proposing. Change to tyres the same size.

mmm... sounds like contradictory statements?

Sorry. I meant that when the engine is hot, the fuel is almost completely evaporated in the port/chamber, so very little actually gets into the crankcase. However, once it is in the oil, you can't evaporate all of it out because the boiling range of petrol runs to over 200C....

Can anyone help me! Got a couple of queries that are bugging me! The first is that after exhaustive searching on the web sourcing all sorts of info on the best parts for my car..with regard to oil filters I have narrowed my choice to 3 filters ....Wix, Mann and K&N. The only problem with the K&N is that the by-pass valve pressure is 11-14 psi whereas the OEM spec is 1bar (14.5 psi +/-2.5). Is the K&N within acceptable an acceptable range? Obviously I don't want the valve opening too easy! The other has been touched on here b4 and its the old spark plug gap for my Ford Focus MkII 2005 1.6L (100bhp duretec) is it 1.3mil or 1 mil? NGK replacements (TR5A-10) are 1mil but other parts sites have 1.3mm as the the OEM spec. If both gaps are acceptable which is better for greater complete combustion/efficiency and so better economy and emissions and better throttle response as opposed to worrying about the coil pack? And would NGK Irdium IX give give better economy/throttle response if I upgrade?

Sorry about the length of this post!... Read more

Just buy a Mahle or Mann filters that are built to OE spec mate and are of excellent quality

If the OE spec is 14.5 plus or minus 2.5 then the K & N is within spec. The bypass valve will only be open when the oil is cold so don't think too much about it....

Evening All,

Not sure if this is the right section but think I saw a similar post.

Basically I'm trying to find out what my insurance company should be doing for me in regards to investigating my accident? Because all they are saying is I have to accept split liability.

The circumstances are as follows...

My partner was driving along a single lane road and was indicating to turn into a local shop. The third party for some reason overtook my partner and then cut back across trying to also turn into the same shop causing my partner to collide with the third party.

Our car had severe damage to the front driver quarter whilst the third party car had damage to the front passenger door. I trust my partner on what she is saying happened and logically there is no way the damage could have been caused to both cars in any other position but the third party is saying she was I'm front. Without a witness (which we did have but is now refusing to give a statement due to personal reasons which the police or insurance company are doing nothing about) my insurance company are saying that I should accept split liability.

So back to my original question in that does my insurance company have to do as I request if I say I want to push for a non fault claim?

Thanks for your help in advance :) Read more

seanyboy

Thank you for all your input.

That is my point exactly, if the lady is clearly at fault and anyone sensible person reviewing the damage could see that I don't understand how split liability can be brought up.

It takes me back to my original question, if I insist my insurance pursue non-fault claim do they have to do as I instruct?

I will let you know how things get on.
