New car suddenly started blowing hot then cold randomly in different parts of car (dual zone heating). This is a software problem according to garage (who are excellent by the way: abergavenny k. price garage). little niggles/teething problems on new model is not the end of the world i suppose - just a pain.

Check that your handbrake cables and rear automatic brake adjusters are in good shape and correctlly adjusted.
I would predict you will need new handbrake cables within two years.

I read the original post as a warning lamp indicating a malfunction being lit. You read it as a malfunction of the indicator telltale.

In Jan 2010 a van rear ended my car after skidding in the snow, the third party admitted liability on the spot. So I gave my car to mercedes dealership to be repaired who gave me a hire car through Brittania Assist who were more than willing to give me a hire car. They dropped it off at my place of work where I signed for the car and they picked it up 5 days later, no problems. No price given for the car just what I thought was paparwork to take charge of it. Yes you guess right Palcouk - my insurance company appointed my solicitors. They have been not very good to say the least. They never return my calls and dont reply to my emails either. Obviously not interested.

OK, most of the time it works fine. I unlock the car with the central locking buttons. This works fine. I then get in and put key in ignition. I have this other lttle fob thing with some brass looking connections that I put in the slot near the key. Hold in for 5 seconds until the red light stops flashing and on removal my dash lights up. I can then start the car - the car will not start without me putting the fob into the slot - no matter how quick I am.
I have no problem getting the dash to light up at all - but sometimes the car will not start, it doesnt turn over the engine at all - just nothing. It can then take me 20 minutes of keep trying to get it to start. When it does start its fine! Any ideas of what can be causing the problem?... Read more
The other small fob is very likely to be an aftermarket immobiliser add-on system.If this has intermittant operation ,then this could be the cause of your problem. It is very possible that this system could be removed and disconnected.hth
