Hi,

I bought my wife a C3 before Christmas and although it has the original radio, whenever the radio or CD player are on, it beeps loudly at short intervals. It doesnt seem to interfere with the radio itself but is hugely distracting and irritating. When the radio is powered off, the noise stops.... Read more

This bleeping is probably because the radio you have is not coded to the car, I would suspect its been changed and not coded in. Go onto the 'French Car Forum' and find out if anyone near you has a Lexia code reader, you should be able to recode the radio with it.

Got to love the guy - he has a 4 x 4 Chevrolet Captiva. I'm almost surprised he doesn't have a blue Volvo 240. Read more

I'm looking to replace my Zafira B with a more reliable and economical motor for between 3 - 4k. After plenty of research both on here and on Reliabilty Index, I've pretty much narrowed down to either a Corolla, an Avensis or an Accord with the Mazda 6 as possibly a wild card.

Until I move house, it will be doing around 500 miles per week, but after that will be pretty much limited to short journeys with only 1 or 2 longer 'thrashes' a month, which possibly rules out a diesel, (unless anyone can advise otherwise?)... Read more

That's still 5mpg better than my mine, which adds up to a tenner a week! Not such a big factor anyway, as I'll be moving, (though still enough to make me drop the Accord from my list!)

Auto checked a 2006 206. It shows up as Cat D write off in June 2006, Then scrapped in Sept. 2006. Yet it's obviously still on the road and has past MOT's. Can anyone clarify why/how it seems to have been scrapped 3 months after the insurance company wrote it off...is this normal????

If you're looking for a 2006 car, you'd do better with, say, a Fiesta, Polo or Yaris than a 206.

Hi,
After investigating the leak of my sunroof, I've discovered it was due to the 2 torx screws inside the car, bolting the metal frame to the car, being loose.

One came out easily, the other turned round and round , so I bent it out.

What would you recommend to fill the hole, in the car frame,
so I can tap a new thread in?... would "Instant metal" be strong enough ?

Another option available, is for me to MIG weld the metal plate to the inside of the car at the circular contact points of the metal plate.
(at the round bits circled)

(wet towels and aluminium foil to stop splatter)

Any idea of what to try, or if you have any other ideas, they would be more than welcome !

Many Thanks
Liam

Best trhing you can do with any 'parking charge notice' or similar from a private parking company is to ignore it - they are pretty much unnenforceable.

My wife and I have had several of these from car park scammers in retail parks and the like, where time limits such as 2hours are enforced through ANPR. Ignored them all and get a few follow up letters trying to ramp up the pressure, then they give up....

I recently contacted a dealer in essex(i'm from scotland) and asked if they had any ford fiestas. They told me they could get one but it would cost £500 for delivery. I gave my bank details to pay for delivery and was told i never had to pay a deposit. They then sent me an email with the car and i decided it wasn't for me however i have now been told i can't get my money back as their words - "As I stated in my email we ordered a car on the strength of your instruction and we have had to take delivery and pay for the car even though you have now cancelled the order". Can they do this? I never signed any contracts with them!

Some years ago I bought a car form Motorpoint in Derby. Good price, easy collection, no problems with the car. When Dad wanted to swap I went onto their site for a look. A Nissan Note was on his short list and they had a good selection at very good prices. But the Silver one was in Newport and they wanted £300 paid by credit card before they would bring it to Derby. If it was a simple case of deciding we simply did not like it tough luck, money not refunded but if we found a genuine fault (how they defined that I have no idea) we could have the £300 back.

Sound to me like a similar senario but did they explain it fully or did the OP understand....
