All 1999 UK manual trans Polo 6N1’s used 085 series boxes, not an 020, 02K, 02A, 02J or 0A4 (not OA4) so taking a typical version with the 1.4 engine, this would have something like a DHB box and these boxes like eating themselves, they are the Polo 6N Achilles Heel. Yes you can do some work on 5th in situ with special pulling tools but trying this is going to turn around and bite you on the tailgate. Pull the box and have it professionally rebuilt. Second hand boxes are often a disaster and I have given up trying used 085’s.

Thanks for all the replies. Tyre pressure was at 26 so now 33 and 30. We'll see! The car locked me out at the weekend - only managed to get in by using the key in the passenger door and electric windows have a mind of their own- only work if I slam the door. I have a week left on months warranty- seriously thinking of giving it back!
Does anyone know how to cure this problem which is more pronounced in cold weather?

We have 48 Golf 1.6D Bluemotion's in our company car fleet, 17 of these have had Clutch and/or Mass Fly Wheel failure. The youngest car with this problem has less than 7k on the clock. VW claim this is due to the driving style, but with one on three cars suffering with this problem I find this very hard to believe.
Is this a comon fault with Golf's has anyone else spoken to VW about similar problems and been brushed off? Read more

7 miles should be plenty to replenish the battery, its charging at up to 80 amps for the first few minutes, the rate only reduces as the voltage starts to come back to normal.
If its going flat in 8 hours it must be drawing several amps, so set your meter to the 10 amp range unless it auto selects.
I have a problem with my Passat TDI 130 PS 2001. It seems when travelling over 50 MPH the temp rises. I have had the water pump/cam belt replaced as thought that was the problem. Had to drive 1000 miles after and the problem is still there. Had the thermostat replaced, still have the problem. There is no sign of a leak or loss of water. The heaters have not ever got warm since i have had the car and now doesnt seem to warm up at all (blowing cold/freezing air). There is no sign of water in the oil (or vise versa) even after the 1000 miles i did in 2 days driving to Italy. I have now flushed the water system with holts 2 step and still have the problem. If i am not driving and hold the revs 2000-3000 RPM on the drive it does not seam to bother it, the heaters will warm a little but not hot then soon as you go drive the car and get 45-50MPH plus it starts to rise and if you dont drop the speed the water temp gauge would hit red. The parts i have had replaced was worn but not broken, I knew the mechanic and saw the old parts.
PLEASE can anyone help i am really lost to what to do next?!?!?!?

You do not always get water in the oil or oil in the water it depends were and how the HG has blown.
Would someone be kind enough to clarify the position regarding the requirement to use OEM parts to maintain warranty?
I have a 60 plate i30 which still has around 2.5 years left on the manufacturer warranty but needs brake discs and pads all round. OEM parts cost in excess of £300 so a dealer job is likely to set me back a fair bit more with labour. Using an independent and non OEM parts will obviously be cheaper but I'm concerned that Hyundai would not then honour the warranty?
I'm happy to pay it if I have to but not if I don't.
I've been given conflicting advice - anyone have a definitive answer?

I wonder if someone can help. I have a problem with my Renault Megane (2004 2Litre) a few times I have had an issue with the car starting. The car does fire up but as soon as you take your foot off the gas the engine cuts out. The yellow service light and Check injection message appears. This is intermittant but has happened three time in the past week. There is a strong smell of petrol when this happens. The garage I have taken it too thought it may be a wiring problem however I have had this looked at and all appears to be ok, they have mentioned it may be a faulty Map Sensor, however they cannot guarantee this will resolve the issue. I am new to this forum. My Megane Scenic 53 plate had exactly this problem. When it did start ok it ran ok - then next time it had problems starting. It was fixed by replacing the Crankshaft TDA and a small associated cable - total cost £70.00 at main dealer....

It sounds as if a tuning box would be ideal for you. To point out the obvious, with a remap once it's on it on and isn't easy to get off. If something goes wrong with your car you could be up the creek with the dealer. It isn't adjustable, etc....
