This lamp has lit up after a brief period of occasional on/off.
No motoring problems noted - what is it telling me please

It's saying; "I have noticed something wrong. Please plug me into a diagnostic computer so I can tell you what it is.".
Basically, you need to get the fault codes read through its OBD port to find out what its bleating about.
I'm guessing but one of your indicator lamps is malfunctioning???
I read the original post as a warning lamp indicating a malfunction being lit. You read it as a malfunction of the indicator telltale.
I wonder which of us is correct?
