I have a Ford Transit Connect 09 in March this year the steering rack was replaced under warranty.

The warranty expired last week and the steering rack has now failed again.... Read more

Was the rack replaced under Ford warranty or a secondhand used vehicle warranty? If it was Ford then I strongly suggest you ring their Customer relation Department. A steering rack is a safety critical item and should last longer than 6 months. No manufacturer can hide behind ' its out of warranty' on safety items - in your case it was replaced only a few months ago.

Hope this helps...

I have a 1997 Galant 2.5 V6. From cold the car runs fine but once warmed up I experience problems with the auto box. Most of the time if stopped at a junction, to move off there is a delay of a second or two. Recently, on two occassions whilst moving, drive is lost almost and the neutral light on the dashboard flashes whilst the drive light is also illuminated.

Any ideas please? thanks Read more

Originally had this problem when I first got the car, someone on here told me it was relay 109,which it was, replaced with new grey type, all sorted.

Now its doing the random cutting out thing again, exactly the same thing, all power go`s,then when I pull over and turn off and leave for a minute, its then starts and runs ok.Had a look at relay 109,but it looks ok,no sign of melting like last time.Dont know if its connected but have also had intermittant flashing glow plug light for months now,VW have scanned it and got the brake light switch code, replaced with brand new VW brake light switch, still the intermittant flashing glow plug light remains, and still when scanned it gives BLS fault code.... Hi
I've had similar problems with my 2005 Golf Plus SE TDI. It starts shuddering and then the glow plug light comes on. Occasionally it stalls and we have to hope that we're not going too fast or going round a bend when it happens. The majority of the time we just pull over, turn the engine off for 10 minutes and it starts fine and will be ok for a week or so before it happens again. The first time the RAC came out the VAG threw up a speed sensor fault, so that was replaced. The next time it was a 109 relay fault, so we replaced that. The next time it happened the garage took a sample from the fuel tank and found that it contained oil (the fuel filter was covered in oil too) and diagnosed a faulty lift pump. They drained the tank, cleaned it, replaced the lift pump and the fuel filter and told me it was fixed. Two days later it started chugging again so they then diagnosed a faulty tandem pump. A new tandem pump and another fuel filter were fitted. This time the car was fine for about 3 weeks, but it then started stalling again. I took the car back to the garage but they couldn't find anything wrong with it (no fault codes had been stored) so sent me away. I've just dropped it at a new garage and the mechanic said that it's likey to be the injector seals because a faulty seal can cause the diesel and oil to mix, causing the chugging sensation. I'm really hoping that this fixes it because I'm £900 out of pocket so far and am about to sell the car - last night was the last straw having had to pull over on the side of a busy dual carriageway at 10pm in the pouring rain with my 18 month old daughter in the back, watching the HGVs hurtling past!

ive had a focus mk1 for 2 year now, came with red and blue keysI recently purchased an uncut rcl fob that i have managed to program into the central locking. But after having the key cut,it wont work. Fob still works with the c/l,it just wont start the car.
Now i have tried the handbook,it just wont have it.The led continues to flash no matter how many times i try it. Only other ionstructions i can find are the program the rcl fob,but i have done that and it works. Its the key that wont get coded.

I read somewhere that you need to see what code it is giving out to program it yourself after a minute of continous flashing.

Can anyone help me out?

Cheers Read more

Hi all

My Focus developed a misfre under load (worst at 2500rpm in 4th) and within days a tapping at idle . I've done a DPF regeneration during that time with Forte fluid (powertrain and engine lights came on) but the misfire was there before just not as noticable along with intermittend rough idling and a flat spot most noticable when changing up from 2nd to 3rd.... Difficult to tell without hearing it but most likely a faulty injector.

Apologies for being lazy and asking here rather than looking it up. I've got a left hand drive (European) VW Golf MK6 (1.6 TDi, Oct 2010). Are the front clip-on wiper blades identical to those on the UK right hand drive cars ? I imagine that they are the same except that the longer and shorter one are swapped round. Basically, would wipers purchased from a UK retailer fit my car ?

Thanks in advance! Read more

Thanks all. The Alca brand (made in Germany) already come packaged with a pair of adaptors to fit left hand drive cars. So problem solved!

Crazy that there are still people out there who won't buy (or even consider) a Skoda.

People are happy to buy a Hyundai - a brand with no history at all, Mercedes - a brand that Hitler seemed to like, Japanese cars - a race who murdered British solders with remarkable cruelty and yet refuse even to consider Skoda, a noble badge from a pleasant little country that was overtaken first by teh Nazis and then by the Communists.... I'm on my second Skoda and SWMBO has just ordered her fifth Mini, so this is nothing to do with snobbery, anti-snobbery, posing etc - indeed it;'s a small minority who buy cars for this reason, as Happy Blue who started the thread has recognised.

The main reasons for buying Minis are (a) they are fun to drive, and (b) although they seem expensive to buy, each of them has been worth 80 % of cost after two years. They are hopelessly impractical, partlcularly her current Convertible - but if you have an Octavia estate in the family, who needs the second car to be practical?

Same happened to me in a Mercedes C200. The pump and reservoir were in the same housing so had to be replaced as one, or the alternative was simply to top up every few months when the noise got too loud.

It was cheaper and easier to top up.

I have an opportunity to buy either as they are both within my budget and the Diesel is £50 more than the petrol . On average I will be doing 30 miles a day (not motorway).

They are both 2002 models and manual... Read more
