Mitsubishi Galant - auto box problems - SimonA
I have a 1997 Galant 2.5 V6. From cold the car runs fine but once warmed up I experience problems with the auto box. Most of the time if stopped at a junction, to move off there is a delay of a second or two. Recently, on two occassions whilst moving, drive is lost almost and the neutral light on the dashboard flashes whilst the drive light is also illuminated.

Any ideas please? thanks

First rule with any troublesome autobox is to do a fluid change - if it's the cause of the problem it'll cure it and if it's not the cause it'll eliminate it as a possibility.

Carefully research the autobox fluid recommended for your car and then find out if the latest version of the fluid is backward-compatible (most are) and then use the latest version of the fluid - eg, if your car needed Dexron 3 originally, use Dexron 6 for the fluid change.
