The best unique selling proposition for Kia in the UK is definitely the 7 year warranty. Not sure what would be the waiting periods of these models though. Read more
Hi, the alternator on my sharen has been making funny noises the last 2-weeks, so i took it off and the pulley wheel has come loose. It seems to have a bearing on it which has started to break up. I can't see how this comes off. Can anyone tell me if this is replaceabe or does it mean a new alternator. Also why does it have a bearing on it. Any help gratefully received. Thanks sparky100. We have, last week, purchased a 2004 fiesta. I didn't notice it at the time, but there seems to be a rumbling on the off side when the car is rolling at more than 30mph. It's not worse when going around a corner like some cars I've had with bearings going.
If it is bearings, are they easy enough to sort without to much trouble?
Thanks

Thanks. I'll give it a go. Hope that's it. It does have a worn one so fingers crossed.
Thanks again
The new blades are good for a short while (just a few months in fact) and then I have to change them. Never had such a problem with them as on this car, normally I have been getting several years use on other cars. The strange thing is that in the course of a day they can go from being grating and not clearing well to being suddenly quiet. I have read some BMW 3 series are also prone to this problem; I wonder if they are flipping over properley? I don't buy the most expensive brands, but noticed the first owner replaced them at only 1500 kms at Jaguar.
Any idea?... Read more
I know that putting a slight twist on to the wiper arm can sometimes stop the noise. Use an adjustable spanner or similar to bias the arm one way or another.

I have started the process of looking foe a replaaaaacement car, and two of my choices so far do not even have a place to put the spare wheel. As it is essential to be able to get home if i have a flat tyre 200 mioles from home, these two are now not on my list, New cruze hatchback and cruze sw. the captiva no longer has the kit to hang the wheel underneath either. I can remember an incident from childhood, very early Sunday morning in London and looking forward to a family party in Liverpool later the same afternoon ... my dad's SAAB 900 had a flat tyre. Even then SAAB issued silly skinny tyres as spares, so there was a mad scramble to find a tyre retailer a) open and b) with the right size tyre in stock.
This was well before things like 'internet' so I presume my dad ended up with any brand of tyre and paid a kings ransom for it.
Any help greatly welcomed.
I have a 2002 2.0L petrol (130bhp AZM Engine), with single DIS Ignition coil pack. The engine warning light came on with a misfire whilst doing 40mph (no previous warning or indications of potential problems), which is present at all engine speeds. I had the code read, indicating a misfire on cylinder three. I have completed the following checks and run out of ideas:
1) Cleared the codes and restarted engine.
2) Replaced the spark plugs with new ones.
3) Old spark plugs were in good condition with no oil, no deposits and the electrodes in good condition.
4) Checked HT lead condition and found no corrosion, a tight fitting cap and no damage to cable.
5) Earthed the HT lead and have strong spark when engine turns over.
6) Checked the injector electrical connections with a bulb tester and all is fine.
7) Removed the fuel rail and extracted cylinder 3 injector.
8) Performed a visual inspection of injector with all looking good and no blockages at the jets.
9) Tested the injector on the bench using a 12V battery to ensure it opens and closes correctly.
10) Replaced the injector in the rail and turned the engine over to check for blockages, with all injectors operating.
11) Swapped cylinder 3 and 4 injectors (misfire still on cylinder 3, no change)
12) Inspected fuel and air connections and ensured no leaks.
13) Checked the engine oil condition with no evidence of water contamination (head gasket)
Any ideas would be most welcome Read more

Early days yet, however, there are new tyres coming out that show an improvement over current & previous generations of tyres. For example, the Continental 5 range of tyres but so far Continental don't appear to have disclosed each tyres EU tyre label.

This alternator is fitted with an over-run pulley, which in simple terms is a one way clutch drive. The pulley can be replaced as a seperate part, but you will need the special tool for removal.hth
