well i was wondering could you help me out i have vw bora 1.9tdi 115bhp ... sometimes when your driving along the car suddenly cuts out and wont restart for about 3 minutes then it runs fine again i was wondering could you help me out please and thank you.
Do you think if this was a review of a British car which had suffered horrendous reliability issues the fact might have been mentioned in the review? Given the problems the 2.0PD has suffered do you think it deserves the phrase "There are just two models to choose from, both fitted with the trusty 2.0 TDI engine." Do you think a review of a Rover car would have had the phrase "There are just two models to choose from, both fitted with the trusty K-Series engine"? Spent 3 hours the other night at a very strange customer focus event in the Thames Valley.
It was run by a marketing company gathering customer opinion data for a manufacturer who they tried to keep secret. It was based around the styling and desirability of cars in the 'softroader' category, ie CRV, Tiguan, RAV4 etc.... Read more
Thats exactly it and I even pretty much agree with your views as well.
I dont see that their approach was really going to get into the heads of the car buyer though. This is not the way for Japanese car companies to get inside our heads I think.....
Just thought I'd mention for all who love/appreciate Saab that Jeremy Clarkson and James May will be paying tribute to this Swedish car manufacturer, whose future is still uncertain.

Saab was always hampered by connotations of being a Vauxhall underneath, which it often was, so struggled against many of its so called premium competitors.
Yet Vauxhall didnt struggle to sell cars. Vauxhall have had reasonably healthy sales figures for some time now, obviously largely due to fleet sales which is another area Saab never tried to get into....
Looking at changing my 08 Santa for a new one. I've been offered £11.5K for my Limited 7 seat manual version with nearly 50K miles, against a new Premium SF auto 7 seat + media pack (works out about 14% off the new one). HJ or anyone out there in the trade be able to give an opinion on this deal? Read more
Thanks - the offer is £11.5K p/x for the old one, plus as near as damn it 14% off the new one. I know with a new model shortly it will take a depreciation hit, so a good deal now is important, but by the time the new one comes, my p/x will be worth less and there will probably be less discount avaiiable on the new one.
Does the '212 model have a DPF?...
I bought a new Skoda Superb Estate in July of 2000. Whilst the car itself is excellent I have a slight niggle about the Sat Nav system. I can only key in three of the characters of a post code. It will not let me complete the last three characters. I have to search by country, town, street and house number. My old Garmin sat nav system allowed me to search by post code and hence made the whole operation very simple. My local Skoda dealer says that if I wish to update the system it will cost me £175.00 for a new disk. I feel that this cannot be right. The car is relatively new. Do you please have an answer to assist in this frustrating dillema?

Z20LEH 170hp engine, belt cam. Same lump as the VXR Z20LER, so easy to remap towards 250hp+.
M32 gearbox is chocolate, and turbos are rubbish but take the stronger VXR turbo as a straight swap....

I agree, two people i worked with were big VW fans, changing for a golf or polo, every three years.
Then quality problems started to show, poor paint, poor reliability, constant visits to the garage....
