I recently noticed an increase in a bottoming type noise in the rear suspension when hitting otherwise normal depressions/bumps in the road. The road clearance at the rear looks normal. It is worse with a heavier load or passengers. The car has about 29000mls. Any ideas? Read more

I’ve had slime put in one of my tyres as a temporary repair but now 2 separate repair shops won’t repair the tyre purely because of the slime, they say repair will not now work. Read more

I get quite a sharp knocking noise from my rear driver side suspension when I go over bumps. I just had the bushes replaced, which has got rid of the creaking noise which used to go with this, but the knocking is still there. Any ideas? Read more

Given Avant's legendary ability to calmly resolve the most vicious of motoring debates, I think he should be packed off to London forthwith. Violent hotspots could be locked down to 'read only' along with a polite reminder that looting and arson are against the rules of the forum.

In areas were unrest is brewing, malcontents could be advised to consider the merits of a Skoda Octavia in preference to a free LG plasma TV.... Read more

Did anybody see Traffic Cops last week? I caught up with it on Sky+ and what got me the most was (for those who didnt see it) there was a guy who worked on behalf of a car dealer, was delivering a customers Audi TT and was clocked at 116mph on the dual carraigeway, unmarked police chased him for many minutes at extraordinary speed to catch him, doing 70 odd in a 30. And in the end he got a £350 fine and a 14 day disqualification.

Seriously. What was the point? Read more

Well thats just the thing, under current legislation if you're pulled over purely for speeding you're issued with a fixed penalty and three points. In his case because he was over the 30mph threshold he had to go to court instead but in neither case do they take the car away, you're free to go on your way. However if he didnt have a licence/tax/insurance/mot etc they wouldve seized the car and then the TT owner wouldve been royally p***ed off.

After a low speed accident, apart from damage to the side of the car panels mainly both doors, the sill also has a dent in it in one spot but I dont think it is bent otherwise.

Does anyone know if these sills are repairable/replaceable or is the car likely to be a write off? (18 months old car).... Read more

Can anyone tell me how to remove the caliper slide pins on a primera p12? I took one bolt off but all I could see was a rubber boot? I have checked the service manual but it only gives a diagram. It would be easier if it was explained to me. Thanks Read more

Started the car up, engaged Drive and the gearbox went into back up mode ( only drivable in 3rd gear), As the drive home was 20 miles I called the AA who diagnosed the problem from the cars own system as a Pressure Solinoid Switch which is stuck in the Off position. There was nothing he could do roadsside so it was relayed to my Local Audi dealer. They have come back to me and said that the gearbox will not " talk " to them and because of this they are suggesting replacing the gearbox, this sounds expensive.

Does anyone have any experience/advise on this... Read more

may be worth a call to an independant specialist or transmission specialist.

It seems a little strange that the vehicle was able to ID a fault but their PC wont ! Its possible its a broken or shorted wire in the box , that can cause comms issue's. Trouble with dealers is they dont have the experts to repairs those type of compnents ! they are run by accountants who want to see a big fat bottom line so if they can sell you a box at £3000+ then they will....
