Local Ford dealer recommends 12,000 mile oil change and 33,000 plug change. These seem very long intervals to me. I note Honest J's 5,000 oil change advice but who is right? Read more

Indeed the Evoque is not a a small 4x4! It's only because the current Rangie is so big (for US markets) that it appears so.
Hi,
I'm trying to find the manual gearbox oil spec for my 2002 Nissan Almera 1.8 and was wondering if anyone had any idea?... Read more
I bought this car from Arnold Clark in Scotland last weekend. It is registered March 08 with 27,500 miles on it. This weekend the VSA warning light comes on and isn't going out. I believe this is now covered by Honda under their TSB Bulletin No SK-07-007-00. Should I go back to Arnold Clark and get them to organise fixing it or should I go directly to Honda. I'm in Northern Ireland and there aren't any AC's over here although they do have a tie in to some local garages to get any AC warranty repairs done. The car has one previous owner and full Honda history, but I'm not sure if Honda like undertaking warranty work for second owners. Can anyone advise?
Many thanks,... Read more
Vehicle Stability Assistance - It works with the ABS on the front wheel drive Accord to help keep your car on the road. Simply put, if your car starts to slide around a curve or if you oversteer, the VSA "kicks in" and the brakes apply to the tire with less traction and the vehicle with more traction gets the additional torque.\
I find a vedio to show "2007 Honda CR-V with VSA Test " at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QjC9wbvTCQ , maybe it will do you some favour
Hello,
I'm looking to trade in my X reg Peugeot 206 for one of the above cars.... Read more
I have a 2008 mk5 Golf match TDi. Its a great car and the extra price you pay can be justified through the solid build quality. I go by the book and have VW service and change my belts. In return I believe the car is very reliable considering I do 100+ miles of commute a day over the past 2.5 years. For a budget of 5K, you could be looking at a mk4 with a decent spec, or possibly a mk5 with low specs.
Personally, I would go for a mk5 with lower specs as I have heard a lot of things going wrong with the mk4. Be warned though parts/ labour is not what you call cheap. If you were going for the car above with 70K miles, make sure the belts have been changed; or you will need to do that asap....
Trying to decide which to get, choice has been reduced to either the new 2011 ford focus tdci (115 ps) zetec or the new shape Citroen C4 hdi110 vtr+.
I know I had a very very poor experience with Citroën in the past but the new C4 looks very tempting.
I have also had poor experiences of ford in the past but the new focus looks well put together, very stylish, decently equiped and drives very very well.
I have discounted the Honda civic as they don't do a diesel model now, the Toyota auris is also out of the picture due to being too boring and staid and very very dull to drive. The Peugeot 308 is again discounted due to poor access to the boot and a very high loading lip. The megane was a very strong possibility as I currently have a grand scenic tdci but the drive was uninspiring and didn't fill me with much confidence ( lack of feel through steering wheel and lack of response from the throttle). The VW Golf would have been a first choice but it's too expensive for very little kit and my local dealership leave a lot to be said. We have no skoda dealers close by so octavia is out too.
I don't want a crossover or mpv as my dad cannot access them now as they are slightly too high for him to get into.
Please don't suggest a Kia Ceed or Hyundai i30 as I would rather walk than own either of those.
Comments from owners of focus or c4 ( new models ) would be appreciated.

Plenty of Insurers may try to apply your approach, however refering them to the Ombudsmans guideance (Rules) on this matter will normally make them see sense. If they don't it's just a case of maing an official complaint and if this does not work taking it to the Ombudsman who is quite clear on the matter.
"We are likely to award the policyholder the full retail value, even if he/she inadvertently under-estimated the value of the vehicle when filling in the proposal form or luckily bought the vehicle for less than it was worth. And we have seen exceptional cases where a vehicle’s value genuinely rose between the date it was bought and the date of the damage/theft."...

Plug change interval depends on the number of electrodes - with single electrode it's 20,000 miles with 40,000 miles for Vauxhalls with twin electrodes.
I've seen claims that quad electrode plugs can go 80,000 miles but I used to fit quads and change them every 40,000.
