seen a clio, think its too cheap, saw this clio 1.2 16v,campus sport ,its a 2006 with 90k miles, full history and its drives fine, and is in very very good condition, took a friend who knows about cars, and he could not fault it.my friend said to hpi check it,least i'll know if finace is owing,or been in an accident.the price was £2500.just seemed to cheap as most others are about £3500.or could it be a bargain?

A lot of people will shy away from it as the mileage is twice the average for the age of the car. They could well be wrong it it's been looked after. The vendor may have tried it at a higher price and had to lower it, or may just be looking for a quick sale.

Its high mileage for a car of that age and in most areas competition for cars like the Clio is fearce among dealers so i wouldnt say its outlandishly cheap. Check the hpi, get a full mot on it and snap it up sunshine.

1.2 Clio and 90k miles on 06 plate? Be cautious as at this mileage you can expect to be coughing up a few squids over the next year. A good test of its value is try selling the same spec. into the trade!

It's the 90,000 miles that makes it cheap...er.

too cheap clio - veryoldbear

Of course it's cheap at that mileage, but it could be a good buy if the service history is complete and it's been looked after properly.

Driving school car?

Good point. Look for the holes in the carpet nearside.

A Clio can never, ever be cheap enough to risk buying one...

Rubbish! They are good cars and deserve their sales success. Just becase you can pick up a loaded mondeo/Vectra for a lot less doesn't make the Clio poor value for money. For young drivers or urban drivers a clio makes much more sense-which is why secondhand small cars are dearer to buy than secondhand large cars.

Typical anti Renault bias by Jog-on,as others have pointed out if its well looked after, service history and feels o.k. its worth a go. The clio campus was the run out model of the Clio at that time possibly accounting for the price as well. Oh i forgot to mention my1994 Clio 1.4 still running as sweet as a nut at 115,600 miles.

Impossible. Everyone knows that French electrics stop working after 30,000 miles. Except when they don't!

bought the clio, happy to say it's going lovely.drove it to local car sales was offered £3300 in p/ex against a £5000 car,did hpi check which came back clear.

Great outcome!

Its a fairy story, a dealer is going to give 3500 and resell for 4500 to stay in business if you believe that then I have a gallon of snake oil for sale.

too cheap clio - jamie745

Perhaps the 5000 car was a total s***box and he was desperate to get it off the forecourt and a less shrewd buyer didnt check it over. But i used to trade cars and i'd never of given a px value of 70% the price of the car they wanted to buy so it does sound a little odd.

As for the merits of a Clio, im not a fan myself but aside from the bonnet flying open thing on the older ones ive not heard many complaints.

May you enjoy your Clio sir. My sis' BF has one (suitable little car for her to learn in too). The only issue they've had is that the ECU died; he drove it through one too many big puddles and the water fizzled it, apparently!

peoples perception of cheap never fails to amaze me a little homework and you will see that this car with this sort of mileage in mint condition is booked at £1700.

£2295 with 73k miles from a dealer...

Indeed, i was thinking, it doesn't sound cheap to me!

You can get for example a Mondeo with all the extras of similar years and miles for less.

Secondhand big cars are always much cheaper than secondhand smal ones because most experienced drivers aspire to a newer car and most inexperienced drivers can't afford the insurance on a big car. The price was fair.

A carsalesman dream. its well over priced its high mileage and its a campus the lowest ever clio.
