Touran Owner

Vehicle has only done 45,000 miles and is justover 4 years old. About a year ago, it started playing up; the warning light (the one looking like a coil) would flash, the warning chime sounded and the car went into (I suppose) limp home mode. This happened from time to time and was temporarily solved by pulling over, turning the engine off and restatrting which seemed to reset whatever was wrong. It got worse (more frequent) a month or so ago, and my local engineer fitted a new turbo. All seemed OK until it happened again three time last Saturday morning. The fault says something like "boost pressure outside range" I guess that the turbo being brand new, the problem must lie somewhere else. Does anybody have an bright ideas or good advice? Read more

Sounds like your mechanic hasn't got a good enough code reader for VW. You need either Vagcom or VCDS or of course the one VW dealers use.

That will tell if the ' out of range' turbo pressure is either over or under pressure & that is important in deciding where to look next....

hi, I need to purchase a 4x4 for towing an ifor williams 505 trailer. We usually carry just one pony but sometimes two. It also needs to be good in snow, muddy fields etc. I have a budget of roughly £10000.00. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Read more

I've no idea what a 'kilogramme' is. ;)

Most motoring terms are still in imperial-apart from the Grauniad which tries to be trendy and Pan-European by using metric....

My wife has recently been convicted a second time (SP30) for speeding. the latest offence was in November 2010. This has considerably increased her insurance premium. I have heard from friends that by completing a speed awareness course it can prevent the 3 penalty points. At the time of the latest conviction she was not offered the course but can she apply to take one now to reduce the points on her licence or does it have to be completed at the time of the offence? and is it by invite only? I've seen my perfect car but it's at a dealer 200 miles away.

If I buy it and have a problem with it does that mean I'd need to return it to the dealer to fix?... Read more

My son lives near Aberdeeen, drove to Mansfield. pont made superbly, Aberdeen like us in west wales is a long way from any big car centre so dealers will price wanted cars for a captive market. The local peugot main dealer charges full retail for the cars. not many deals here!

I bought my Ford Focus 06 diesel 1 year ago - 49K on clock. In October - alternator needing replacing.

In november sudden loss of power and amber engine warning light. Started up fine after losing power, with no warning lights but kept doing this recurrently. Garage thought was EGR valve problem - recommended cleaning it. This seemed to solve the problem.... Read more

Hi there.

Long time reader, first time poster and all that:

I was in a bit of a bump at a supermarket carpark today.

I was on the 'road' between the spaces, the other car was in a space.
I reversed back to let another car get round a corner and the car I hit chose this moment to pull out behind me.

The end result - a nice big dent in the other cars wing (an audi A6 I think) and some mindor damage to fixings on my bumper (I'll probably live with these).

Anyway, we've agreed to sort it out between ourselves and He's gone off to get a quote. I'm not going to bother getting mine fixed, I should be able to snap it back into place.

The question is, how much do you reckon is a reasonable quote for a new wing and spray? He seemed to think the dent is repairable, though I'm not so sure.

Many thanks

I second what someone said about keeping your Audi until it falls to bits if you're happy with it. You won't get much for either but change the car you think is unwieldy.
