Buying a car from a dealer far from home - LittleBird

I've seen my perfect car but it's at a dealer 200 miles away.

If I buy it and have a problem with it does that mean I'd need to return it to the dealer to fix?

How much is the car? Age / Mileage?

My son lives near Aberdeeen, drove to Mansfield and bought a Golf at the weekend - 18 months old so he is covered by VW warranty.

7 hours each way but saved £2000 on Aberdeen Prices. Aberdeen prices for cars, builders etc are a lot more than the rest of Scotland. £22K instead of £24K and T/i was the same.

Thanks I've gone mad and bought it without seeing it! It's a year old so still has 2 years original warranty.

The dealer says it's immaculate. It's got less than 3,000 miles on the clock and is £2000 less than one which had 14,000 mile on the clock which I was offered by a London dealer yesteday.

Have even got them to agree to deliver it for a small charge.

I buy my cars at about a year old and have always had to take them back for something that wasn't right. Ok they might say that you can take it to any dealership but in practice it isn't always that easy.

Too late to tell me that now Fred, I've bought it! Dealer did say I can take it to any Peugeot dealer so they'd better not be lying!

For any serious warranty work you will probably be ok, in fact another dealership will probably lap it up. For me it has been non warranty issues, things that should have been sorted out when the car was prepared for sale that have been the problem.

If it's a main dealer car car with a manufacturers warranty you can take it to any main dealer for warranty issues.

Our Aygo was bought new through an internet broker and supplied by a dealer 200 miles away. Warranty repairs all done at local dealer,

My X type was from a dealer 50 miles away, my local main dealer did the warranty work.

Relax and enjoy the car!

My son lives near Aberdeeen, drove to Mansfield. pont made superbly, Aberdeen like us in west wales is a long way from any big car centre so dealers will price wanted cars for a captive market. The local peugot main dealer charges full retail for the cars. not many deals here!
