HI
I am considering this car as an option. Have found a few around the 15000 mark, have been offered bottom trade in for current car. How much could I realistically expect a main dealer to drop the window price by? I have been offered around £600. Is this a good deal? I don't want the hassle of selling current car privately, 9 years old with a few small niggles.... Read more
Whenmy van is cold, the revs are up and down and then cuts the engine. once it is warm, there is no problem. Two garages have looked at it and can't find a solution. it's a diesel 1700cc (approx). Any ideas please? Read more

Hi all, can you let me know if you have successfully got your window regulator fixed in Northern Ireland under the 75% 7yrs/100km goodwill scheme? Was it just as straightforward as going to your garage, or did you have any hassle with it? I'm looking to talk to someone who has had it done. If you could PM me or leave me a msg!
Thanks a mill. :) Read more
Which goodwill scheme?? Can you give any more details? Thanks
The gearbox on my wife's 2002 Jazz auto (CVT) with 32k miles has started 'hunting' . Driving at a steady 30 or so, it slows down, then picks back up as though it is changing down a gear, then back up. The gearbox oil has recently been topped up with the correct fluid (it was very low, apparently). Car has been serviced annually by a Honda dealer but an independent dealer suggests the problem might be the gearbox on its last legs. Any ideas? Read more
In the past week I have been driven in two (turbo) diesels; a Passat and a Renault (?). Both of there were around 2l and had six speed gearboxes. With modern technology they seemed quite happy at 30 mph in 6 th . This set me wondering if they are so torquey why do they need six gears? I have quite a bit of experience of “classics” and whilst I accept that three speeds are awkward at times (e.g 100E, Consul) they are quite adequate (apart from motorways) on cars like Zephyrs/Zodiacs and Crestas. I tend to feel that 4 + O/D is about right. So why are these cars supplied with six speed boxes – or is it just to make you want something you do not need?... Read more

Having read that the manual version of this car boasts CO2 emissions of 117 g CO2, yet can top 140 mph, isn;t it about time that the whole myth of CO2 levels is blown apart?

Thanks. Yeah, I suspect it's got a bit pricey for me now, and will probably finish higher too

Mrs G and I bought 1 last month, exactly same model, same engine, same trim. All those waiting for their iX35s should pay attention.
Anyway, to stay on topic I found the following:
Local dealer in Watford had one in a metallic redish colour for 14,500, we drove it, loved it, but Mrs G hated the colour. Sales guy immediately dropped to 13,500, but still we didn't want it.
Looking around as you say there are few there at around £15K to 15.5K, but most are with the same chain of dealers Robins and Day. I called around a few of them, not because I was playing one off against another but because none are on my doostep, and if I was going to travel, I wanted to know a few specifics about the car before I headed off.
I found myself gravitating towards Robins and Day in Coventry (90miles away) . Lee there was most helpful. Other branches either did not return my call, or were unhelpful and in one case almost rude when I implied I might want a discount from the ticket price.
His offer on my part ex was spot on, (in the end I managed to get a private sale for more on EBAY a few days before), his offer for full cash purchase was also spot on and he had fitted a USB/ iPOD/iPhone kit for me, at all times he was completely professional and avoided all the "cheesiness" of most car salesmen.

You won't get much discount on the car unless you go for one of those red ones that no one seems to want. But you will be well looked after by Lee, you won't be ripped off on your partex, and he'll be flexible...
