I'm looking at buying a renault scenic but the seller say's it's just started to drip coolant somewhere near the bottom hose where it meets the water pump. Is this a big job to sort ? and what would I need to sort it ? or is it just best to stay away.

I am just wondering if anyone else notices this and gets angry like I do!

On some of the bigger roundabouts you have 3 approach lanes (mainly left lane for left and straight on, middle lane for straight and right lane for right). The markings on the roundabout also indicate 3 lanes so all is good up to this point. Then the driver in the left lane is to lazy to follow the left lane of the roundabout around (granted it may be quite a sharp deflection but its mainly car drivers who do this so not an excuse) so they cut straight across into the middle lane so as to follow a straight line across the roundabout and thus force the middle lane driver into the right lane or to brake as the right lane driver is already in the right hand lane on the roundabout. It restricts capacity and effectively makes the 3 lane roundabout a 2 lane roundabout! ... Read more

Anywhere in blighty sell such items? Have trawled the net and it seems plenty of them 'states-side but none here. Loathe to go down the full auto trimmer route as I've undertaken myself in the past to various cars.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!... Read more

A lot of people are rushing to buy cars now to avoid the VAT increase, but are they really getting a bargin? As the demand is higher, dealers can probably push prices up a bit. When the VAT goes up nobody will buy a car unless there are good offers, so next year it can see them doing everything they can to sell a car. Keeping the prices a bit higher now will also allow them more flexibility when VAT goes up. What do people think? Will January be a good time to buy?

The VAT increase will increase the prices by approx 2.1%, which isn't really a huge difference. I want to buy a car next year, so I'm hoping that I can get a good deal. I only paid 15% VAT on the last car I bought. Read more

my car has the bank of 3 round led switches and last week, it wouldn't switch off at all. then it worked ok in auto but when in manual, only position 9 worked. as soon as i went down to 8 or below, it turned off. The temperature control works ok (left hand round switch) and distribution works ok (right hand round switch) . My gut feel is there is a prob with centre switch but am not sure. Does anyone know if there are diagnostics available to pinpoint the prob ? As an aside, I did consider replacing centre switch but was told by my friendly Vaux garage that all 3 switches have to be replaced as a bank of three and would cost in the region of £350. I made my excuses and left ! Any help at all would be appreciated. Read more

Hi there. The problem is that the front of the car bounces violently when driven. I just bought the car and don't know very much about it or about this type of suspension. What could be the problem? The car rises and lowers normally. The spheres are not broken, there's enough LHM in it. Recently I read something about the nitrogen level in the spheres. Could this be the problem for the bouncing - not enough nitrogen? Thanks in advance. Read more

Our present xm 1997 2.5 estate has only 730k km on the clock this being our fourth xm the last one had over million km when it finally became to old being 1990 circa. The only time anyone saw the inside of a Citroen main dealers is when the abs unit went a long way from home .Regarding the above work you do not go around hitting things with cold chisels when there is a perfectly safer and easier way to do it but you mend your cars your way and I'll do it the proper way..
