if you want confirmation then pop to your local garage and have the gasses in the header tank sampled for combustion products. Regards Peter

Have the opportunity to but an 02 Mondeo with FFSH and 82K miles on the clock. Only thing I notice though is that there is alot of smoke coming out the oil filler cap when removed after a short test drive This is my ffirst Diesel so was wondering if this is normal or if it shows some form of problem Read more

tdc

A lot of smoke is not a good sign(worn piston rings/blocked breather/valve-stem oil seals/poorly seating inlet valves);however diesels with their high compression do get blow-back in several areas especially as the mileage creeps up....you only have to look in the inlet manifold/air pipes/air-boxes of most run-of-the-mill diesel engines when you strip them to see an oily sludge.

Check another example of this model for comparison. ...

I new I had read it, Under EU law ECE-R-48 any car built after 2010 you must be able to change the headlamp bulb without any special tools and without consulting or using a workshop. If you cannot chage it in a reasonable time the main agents must change free of charge.Source Autobild today. What about replacing Xenon's? I thought due to the voltage this is always a 'dealer fit' recommendation. Does this mean that they'll do it for free?

Hope someone can help. My Fiesta has recently begun to have problems starting. The engine starts and then imediately dies, then won't start again. AA came out and got it going by hand priming the black bulb. It was fine rest of day, fine next day, then same thing happened. Each time it can be started by priming but there appears to be air in the fuel lines. Took it to garage and he had it 2 days, started fine every time while there, but the day after I got it back same thing happened. Garage has checked to see if air is getting in anywhere but could find no problem. Once it has been started by priming it starts and stops all day with no problems, it just the first start every other day or so that is trouble. One thing I have noticed is a ticking sound for a few seconds after turning engine off - is that normal? No idea if its connected to problem. Any ideas or advice welcome. Read more

Main Dealer said the fault was `a porous fuel filter housing` ? when her car had similar starting problems.Common fault so check all around that area.

thanks for reply, i have done a bit of reading up on this now and managed to find the leak. there is a hand primeing pump that lead to the filter housing and they basically say to check from there to the housing as its got to have cracked, perished or or as in my case a pin hole from rubbing some where in pipes or housing. thanks again
