I have a Peugeot 306 Turbo Diesel 135,000 miles R reg.

There is an issue of fumes coming into the car when driving. It does not start straight away, gets bad after about 20minutes. Fumes are bad when driving under 30mph and in slow traffic. ... Read more

Hope I'm not being fat-ist.

Remember about a year ago when BSM replaced all their driving school Corsas with Fiat 500s. It now seems that government driving examiners are too fat to get in them, so BSM are going back to Corsas... Read more

I suspect the real reason they've changed back is due to Vauxhall offering them incredible deals.

Agreed, BSM stopped using Vauxhall due to the deal between then changing. GM must have been quite keen to get the business back and I suspect they'll be giving them free or at an amazing low cost.

I recently bought a
Nissan Almera 2000-2002 Petrol 1.5L
When the engine gets to 1500 rpm, there is no power build up at all and it takes somewhere around 4 seconds to pick up and move to higher rpm. This is felt more on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. It is more pronounced during the start of the jouney.
The Timing chain was changed recently
It did run out of petrol recently
There is an oil leak after the engine stops on the left hand side of the engine from the head. (The mechanic feels it needs a head gasket replacement for stopping the oil leak)

An engine management check returned a "Faulty Crank Sensor" but the mechanic feels it could not be the crank sensor but may be the timing chain etc. But these bits prove to be costlier than the value of the car to be repaired.

Could you please advice what could be the problem.

Thanks in advance.

The OP's admitted in another thread he's got vacuum pipes disconnected and there appears to be a part of his induction system missing!

I have recently had a similar problem with my 406 and was resolved by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and then reconnecting. Not 100% sure why this has resolved the issue but will be taking it to my local garage who specialse in French cars to find out why and if it is likely to happen again.

Will update when I have spoken to them.

Golfs still hold their value well don`t they?If so have a ring around the top bodywork places and compare quotes. If it`s a straightforward shallow dent without any creasing they may be able to do it quickly and cheaply.

Why is it that the A/C system on a car needs recharging, but a domestic refrigerator can last 25 years with no attention?

In a freeser/frifgr the compressor and motor are a completely sealed unit. In a car the compressor is a stamd alone unit with seals on the input shaft that very very slowly leak. Car A/C should be run at least 10 minuts a week to ensure the lubricating oil is run throught the system to keep the seal supple. Regards Peter
