hi guys. its petrol yea. dont know if this helps but when i got my cat changed the mechanic said that it was very dirty?? its like total loss of power. u know its away to happen as the revs start decreasing on the rpm counter. then it cuts out. after few mins it starts again. the relay sounds promising.

My Nissan Micra 1.3SLX 16 valve has developed a high pitched whine in the engine. A mechanic seems to think it is a dry bearing either the water pump or the power steering, but having oiled and/or greased all the parts it hasn't made any difference. I find that when the car has been standing for a few days and I drive it it doesn't start for about 5 miles. If I use it every day it starts whining immediately I start the engine. While I'm driving I find that if I put my foot down (about half way) on the accelerator, the whine stops and starts again when I release pressure on the pedal. Do you think it might be something to do with the petrol/accelerator? I would be grateful for any ideas.

Many thanks... Read more

Brava 1.4 12 valve. After a short journey, say 5 mins, go to start the car. I have to put the pedal to the floor and crank the engine until it starts. Also sometimes the revs go up and down on their own. Does anyone have any ideas that could help. Thanks. Read more

Its either a temp sensor or a steppermotor problem both give the same symptons when failing one is expensive and one quite cheap common problem on Fiat petrols ,you need the car ecu interagated to find out which one.

Thanks . will take it to the garage and post the results. hope it is the cheap one ....

Can anyone tell me if the spark plugs are changed at a 3year service Read more

Dutchie

If they haven't been changed before they should have been changed after a three years service.

After a journey earlier I noticed my offside rear sidelight was not working, after removing it I discovered it was an R10W (it was blown) I replaced it with a R5W version until I could acquire a replacement bulb.

Whilst fitting the bulb I noticed that the boot courtesy/illumination lamp went out of its own accord.....then I discoverd the following electrical problems... Read more

Hi

10 amp fuse keeps blowing each time I replace it and now the alarm starts to go off but I can drive the car with the alarm going. Interior light, headlight on alarm, electric windows, central locking all don't work. Problem started when boot lock central stopped working...

Spend £50 or more with your Honda motorcycle dealer before the end of October and get £20 off.

It doesn't matter what you buy. Maybe you need some new gloves or boots, or you fancy a new helmet. Or perhaps you're after a new top box or some heated grips. You can even put your voucher towards having your bike serviced if you wish.

Just remember, whatever you treat yourself to, your voucher is only valid until the end of October.

Local dealer tried to squirm out of this for a tyre, but Honda UK told them they couldn't.

the insideedge of my tyre has worn and the car makes a low droning noise even when i press the clutch down when car is moving. Is this the wheel bearing? Read more

Collos25

You did not mention the clutch slip or the noise being consistant in your first mail.

You have a worn out clutch and problems with the steering joints and probably suspension joints are you really suprised the tyres are wearing out quickly.Until you get the problems rectified you will not solve any of the stated problems you need to take it to someone competent in both problems..

Hi all,

I have a renault megane 1999 1.4 8valve single point injection car.

The other day there was a bit of a bang and it turned out the gear linkage had moved but with no signs of contact with anything. Anway got it sorted.

Since then when ever the revs get below 1000 rpm or idle it is very lumy and the engine vibrates a lot. Driving performance isnt effected and fuel consumption hasnt changed much that I have noticed.

I have changed the plugs and even the coil (theres only one on the e7j engine) as I had a spare and it made no difference. The plugs I took out were a bit black but not the worst ive seen.

I wanted to check for misfire but thought better of just grounding the plugs on the engine! Also the injector seems to have got noisier and sounds like a sodding diesel now! I have also recently adjusted the tappets, and this was done correctly.

Any suggestions welcome, cant really afford to send it to the garage, I am a mechanic but Im out of ideas at the moment!

cheers guys and gals!
