Does anyone have any experience of this engine? I have the 2.0TDi 170ps engine in my Audi A3 at the moment but need to get a car with a low Co2 output. I'm worried it might be under-powered. Any feedback greatly received! Thanks. Read more

Thanks for the reply, sorry but I thought I'd said thanks a month ago, must have not pressed the post message button. I've got my new car!

I went to the local dealer but they seemed very dissinterested, but some friends of mine have also had the same problem.

Anyway, I did manage to drive the Audi A4 Technick with the 2.0 TDi 136ps engine and it was good enough for my needs and it had leather and sat nav as standard!

I decided to lease it from Contract Hire Direct who managed to find one that was built and only a few weeks away. Apart from the gearbox feeling a bit tight (I'm sure it will loosen up) it's very smooth and quieter than my old A3 and the stop start feature is good also, although a bit weird the first few times it happens, It should hopefully mean excellent MPG!

Recently purchased 56 plate Vectra CDTI SRI 120...had ECU remapped...at 2000 rpm in 6th gear speed recorded at 80 mph...gearbox failed...replacement box fitted under warrenty...tried vehicle...now at 2000 rpm in 6th gear speed recorded at 68 mph...spoke with the garage and they said they fitted same type of gearbox...end of story to them...any suggestions as to possible variation in speed...regards and thanks Berni Read more

Most likely the final drive ratio is lower on your new gearbox than it was on the old one. On older Vauxhalls the SRi models often had a lower overall gear ratio for a better performance through the gears. The compromise of course was a higher engine speed for any given vehicle speed. No petrol or diesel engine is capable of producing high torque at low speed. Your car's gearbox is designed to make optimum use of the engine's maximum torque throughout the rev range. I'd speak to your garage again, as the overall gear ratio must be different.....

Thanks for the prompt reply Railroad...will speak with the garage again...regards Berni...

I'm thinking of buying a set of tyres for winter and am divided between Vredestein Quatrac 3s and Snowtrak 3. Given that my main tyres all newish would dedicated winter Snowtracs be a wiser choice? Read more

Thanks, Good point. I intend keeping the vehicle but one can never tell how long that will be. If circumstances changed, what would the desirability of each set of tyres be on the second hand market? Would this affect the equation?

I've noticed the numerous posts re long delivery times for the ix35 and the problem seems to be with supply of the 2.0 CRD engine. I've been waiting a couple of months for a Santa Fe I ordered via an online dealer and although this would have the 2.2 unit I'm wondering if the supply dealys are affecting this model as well?

I can't get much feedback from the dealer so if anyone else is in the same situation it would be useful to know. Read more

Guys congrats on not following the crowd and buying something different. I love the looks of Santa Fe and hopefully it'll be my next buy. When you get yours and have driven them a bit please come back and provide us your feedback. It'll be greatly appreciated. :)

I have just had my car serviced by an approved MB service centre. The car came back with a noise which was never there before and the dealer is stating that the noise was there from before. However they never mentioned it to me during the service or in the advisory notes afterwards.

The dealer also insisted on replacing spark plugs which didnt need replacing and told me that they would not stamp the service booklet unless I agreed which I reluctantly was forced to agree to.... Read more

Thanks to all the people who posted their comments. I did take the car back and they did accept the noise was to do with the faulty fuel filter they had put in. They also refunded the cost towards the spark plugs and admitted they had made an error. I was offered a full apology and they have done the MoT free of cost. Good outcome overall.

My car was recently serviced (Service A) by an authorised Mercedes Benz Service Centre. It has 30000miles on the clock and the following items were replaced - oil change, fuel filter, spark plugs and brake fluid. The car came back with a loud humming/howling noise. The dealer is claiming that this noise is caused by a faulty fuel pump but I am aghast as this problem was not there before and it will cost well over 400 pounds to replace. Could the fuel filter they have replaced be faulty? Any advise would be appreciated. Read more

Had the car seen by the dealer again and the noise was pinned down to them having put in a faulty fuel filter. Also the clamps were adjusted to ensure that they do not touch the body work and the noise has gone away.
