A few days ago my Nissan's PS light came on when I started it up and the steering was very heavy and I have been unable to drive it. I had it towed to my local garage and after investigating they are reporting that the Power steering pump has gone and needs replacing. This would be at a cost of £1300. new or possibly if they can get hold of one £350+VAT. Right now this is an expense I really cant manage (either price) and am not really sure that they have rightly diagnosed. Can any one make any suggestions?Does this sound right? I am in the london area(North East) . Any advice will be much appreciated! Read more

My air conditioning/heater fan motor only works on position 4 full power; I have been informed the resistor will be is broken. The question I have where about is it located in the car, can it be replaced on its own or will I need a whole fan motor and where can I get hold of one if available. Read more

It looks like I am going to have to replace my fan motor in my signum. Resistor changed by a dealer about a year ago but fan has recently seized up. At £250 with a dealer, I think that I will get a motor from a scrappy, any tips? I know that I can access it - but that's about it.

Thanks,

hi yeah see your point ,i can assure that i have no connection with this company just a very satisfied customer, iam a mobile mechanic by trade

i tried several diesel specialists who wanted to do a "re-build " on my pump which it obviously doesnt need ,the place mentioned above was the only one who was honest with me so i would recommend them for future use...

Is this likely to be urgent and if so is it likely to be covered under extended warranty.? If not under warranty is it an expensive repair. Read more

Having moved the front passenger seat forward I have noticed a long cable that is disconnected. This cable is quite long - approx 2.5 metres, blue in colour and has a 13-pin connector head and seems to go into the console housing by the handbrake.

can anyone tell me what this is and if / where it should be connected, or is it just the lead for hooking the computer up to a diagnostic machine?... Read more

Sounds like an aftermarket cd changer or similar has previously been fitted.Nothing related to any diagnostic connector which is located at bottom edge of dash panel, drivers side.hth

Dear All, sorry if this posted in the wrong place I'm a bit new to this forum but can someone offer advice, would really appreciate it - my 99 Hiace 2.4D van temperature gauge stopped working, it was gradual over a few weeks, not rising too high to nothing at all. It runs fine and other gauges good so not the fuse. I changed the temperature sensor transmitter for a new one, still the same, gauge not working. I earthed the lead to the sensor briefly to check the wiring and gauge, dial flew to the top so I know the wiring and gauge is okay. Bit perplexed now. I have noticed the heating is a bit crap, never gets really hot, just luke warm - would the next step be to change the thermostat and/or coolant and squeeze tubes etc when re-filling in case of airlocks?
Any advice much appreciated.
Cheers
