My air conditioning/heater fan motor only works on position 4 full power; I have been informed the resistor will be is broken. The question I have where about is it located in the car, can it be replaced on its own or will I need a whole fan motor and where can I get hold of one if available. Read more
It looks like I am going to have to replace my fan motor in my signum. Resistor changed by a dealer about a year ago but fan has recently seized up. At £250 with a dealer, I think that I will get a motor from a scrappy, any tips? I know that I can access it - but that's about it.
Thanks,

Is this likely to be urgent and if so is it likely to be covered under extended warranty.? If not under warranty is it an expensive repair. Read more

Having moved the front passenger seat forward I have noticed a long cable that is disconnected. This cable is quite long - approx 2.5 metres, blue in colour and has a 13-pin connector head and seems to go into the console housing by the handbrake.
can anyone tell me what this is and if / where it should be connected, or is it just the lead for hooking the computer up to a diagnostic machine?... Read more
Sounds like an aftermarket cd changer or similar has previously been fitted.Nothing related to any diagnostic connector which is located at bottom edge of dash panel, drivers side.hth
Dear All, sorry if this posted in the wrong place I'm a bit new to this forum but can someone offer advice, would really appreciate it - my 99 Hiace 2.4D van temperature gauge stopped working, it was gradual over a few weeks, not rising too high to nothing at all. It runs fine and other gauges good so not the fuse. I changed the temperature sensor transmitter for a new one, still the same, gauge not working. I earthed the lead to the sensor briefly to check the wiring and gauge, dial flew to the top so I know the wiring and gauge is okay. Bit perplexed now. I have noticed the heating is a bit crap, never gets really hot, just luke warm - would the next step be to change the thermostat and/or coolant and squeeze tubes etc when re-filling in case of airlocks?
Any advice much appreciated.
Cheers

Hi everyone, Gap insurance is a con! Why you ask, well this is what happen to me when i claimed on my gap insurance. I brought my car 3yrs ago from a dealer for £6995 with gap insurance costing £299, but sadly the car was a a total loss a few days ago. My insurance compamy will only offer me £3100 less my access £450 (=£2650) for the car, and i thought as i was sold it by the dealer, that the Gap insurance would pay the rest, well NO they don't! They give you a market value for the car which was £4385 and pay from that price to your invoice price £4385 to £6995 (=£2610). So i ended up with only £5260. Thats down by £1735 form my purchase price of £6995. So i went back to the dealer yesterday and asked why they had miss sold me the gap insurance, which they were shocked to hear about what happened and belived that this is wrong and are helping me with my claim. So please bewere when buying Gap insurance. Read more
Just a comment, we recently bought a car at about £16,500.00, the gap insurance quotation was £300.00 for 3 years, which i thought good value, and certainly proportinally better value than you appear to have got.
we did not take it out as our insurance replaces with a new car at up to 2 years of age....
