Could anyone help me locate the MAP vaccuum hose on a Renault MEGANE OASIS VVT AUTO 2005. A photo or drawing would be really appreciated!

I have been advised to check it for splits as experiencing some power loss and high revs especially as low speed or pull away. All seems to be ok at crusing speed.... Read more

Thanks so much for your reply. Not sure if you know but is it likely that rubber seal failing good cause similar problems?

I've got a 57 plate 307 and it was great until the winter just past, when I heard a hum/resonance coming from my back driver wheel area. I took it to several garages, mist of which could not hear it during a test drive, which meant they were unable to fix something they could not hear, which I suppose is fair enough. My problem is, as people that have been in this situation know, that it is really annoying to me and is spoiling the enjoyment of the car.

This started in March 2010 and by June, I had had enough and replaced the entire back brakes (which on the 307 includes the wheel bearings), which was no cheap job. Much to my dissatisfaction, this did not help. Before you all start shouting at the screen, that it is tyre noise, its not, as I have tried 3 (count them) different makes of tyres and the noise is identical.... Read more

Righ, after reading several thousand things about tapping Corsa I am confused. I'd like a full uncomplicated explanation of what could happen if anything. For around 5k my Corsa when the engine is right up to temperature will tap very regularly at idle, in a constant rhytem. The tapping has been getting louder and louder but i just don't have the money to sort it out or get it seen to. If i drive the car very spiritedly it will tap even louder. And i have just noticed but on start up there is a odd noise, but I only noticed it today, so it might not be an everyday occurance. I also couldnt describe the noise to you. And it has just started staying on start up INSP on the mile ometer reading sign thing for around a minute. The car has done 37,500 miles give or take. and the last service was performed by my grandad at round 28k to 29k. The last documented dealer service was at 21k.

It's not that i dont know about cars, I know alot about them, but I'm not mechanically minded in the car world, just factually minded.... Read more

Well the company car list has now come through and among the usual Vectras and Mondeos the BMW 318i has appeared. I had an e36 318i back in the 90s and it was bullet proof. Has anyone experience of the e90 2010 version? Gutless wonder or surprising underdog? Read more

I am using Sierra (2WD drums) suspension on a kit car that I am building. As I was stripping the rear wishbones last week I found that the drivers side was badly corroded and must be discarded. I am having difficulty finding replacements.

However, I have found a source that offers new Granada mk3 wishbones and Cosworth wishbones. Does anyone know is these are interchangable? The tabs and clips on the top don't matter as I can weld on replacements.... Read more

My car is 163,000 miles & drives like new. this discussion is for those who are trying to keep their Boras OTR. For discussion of mechanical problems eg. Both drive shafts replaced, both front bearings replaced, rear discs, front engine undertray, vacuum hose replaced. Also suspension bushes have been done by Powerflex. All this work done by independent mechanics (I would recommend VW dealers are avoided unless someone else is paying ) Read more

What is the best way of removing dead flies from the front of my car. Normal cleaning with a good car shampoo and sponge doesnt seem to work.

Wash car. Spray on Autoglym Motorcycle cleaner to fly blown areas, leave a minute or two, rub with an old paintbrush to loosen flies. Hose off. Repeat as necessary, but DO NOT let the cleaner dry on the paintwork it may remove the shine permanently..

Does anyone have any experience of this engine? I have the 2.0TDi 170ps engine in my Audi A3 at the moment but need to get a car with a low Co2 output. I'm worried it might be under-powered. Any feedback greatly received! Thanks. Read more

Thanks for the reply, sorry but I thought I'd said thanks a month ago, must have not pressed the post message button. I've got my new car!

I went to the local dealer but they seemed very dissinterested, but some friends of mine have also had the same problem.

Anyway, I did manage to drive the Audi A4 Technick with the 2.0 TDi 136ps engine and it was good enough for my needs and it had leather and sat nav as standard!

I decided to lease it from Contract Hire Direct who managed to find one that was built and only a few weeks away. Apart from the gearbox feeling a bit tight (I'm sure it will loosen up) it's very smooth and quieter than my old A3 and the stop start feature is good also, although a bit weird the first few times it happens, It should hopefully mean excellent MPG!
