Following a diagnostic due to an anti-pollution fault, I was recommended to change the FAP pressure differential sensor. I knew that the design of the sensor would be different, as the previous one was letting water in eventually.
The previous design had 2 tubes, front and rear of the sensor, whereas the new one is left and right. I tried to connect one way (front to left, rear to right) and went for a drive test hoping the ECU would reset the fault, refilled the tank a bit...no joy. Tried to swap the tubes, no luck either. I also checked the tubes underneath the car and they are pretty tight.... Read more
hi all, i seem to have a humming noise at 40mph plus, i have spun and shook all the wheels and there seems to be a few mm of play on the n/s/f. Should i assume there is a problem with the bearing on this wheel? all spin quietly, but theres very slight play on the o/s/f and even more on the n/s/f. Do the bearings on these come as part of the hub or seperate? Also i have a yellow light on the dash., a circle with 3 lines either side of this. All pads have plenty left on them, could this be a sensor problem?
many thanks... Read more
Hello All,
Am looking to buy a new A4 2.0 TDIe in SE Spec. If I buy on PCP the dealer is willing to give me 2020 pounds off the car (APR 7.5% on PCP) with a moderate trade in value. Now I know that I need to get a better trade in on my existing Audi A3, but my question is what sort of discount do you think I should be pushing for on the A4?... Read more
I bought an Audi A3 last year form a main dealer and got the 5dr Sport price to the car broker level - although I probably paid a bit more for the options in the end.
I then sold it back to them at way above book 6 months later (long story) and they re-sold it for £5 less than I paid for it.
I was parking my car in an undisclosed inner-city car-park the other day with the radio on fairly high; ah, credibility down the drain already! As I was jamming out to my favourite R.E.M. song I realised the space I was attempting to drive into was far too narrow. I promptly reversed out of the space and into another.

You have done all you need to do to avoid any charges. Nothing much else you can do really.
Hi, whilst driving down the motorway yesterday the little orange engine warning light lit up. The car seems to be fine with no odd driving faults or issues. The hand book states its an antipolution fault and i should contact citroen ASAP, is this realy the case? or can i just disconnect the battery and clear the light!!

I suffered this problem several times when towng. It appears that it is caused by a build of of carbon in the system. The EGR return pipe ( chrome pipe top right hand side of the engine), sticky turbo blades to mention the main offenders. This problem eventually causes a loss of power when under load.
My service garage reccomended cleaning out the EGR tube which was full of carbon and adding a system cleaning fluid to the fuel then giving the car a good blast up the road to get things moving. It did the trick....
I have a 2010 Audi A4 2.0Tdi. It will display average mpg for the current journey and for the car's lifetime (till reset). It is irritating that these readings only land on certain values. For example the jorney average will jump from 33.4 to 33.7 to 34.1 to 34.8 etc. as I go along, always landing on the same set of values. Currently the lifetime average is reading 44.1. From the way that the journey average indications work, I know that this figure will not change until the average reaches 44.8. It is irritating because my previous 1.9Tdi moved smoothly in steps of 0.1. My dealer says there is nothing wrong and that's the way it is. Does anyone else have a similar gripe ? (Incidentally this is nothing to do with instantaneous averages which I have seen discussed elsewhere.) Read more
I see what you are saying the the jump of the figures are to big you like the 0.1 more accurate. Its funny how certain things can annoy people.Has the dealer checked that everything is fine? I remember with our previous car the outside temp display could be seen by the passenger as well. With our new car its displayed on the drivers side. You might just have to live with it take care.
I have posted this on the (VW) Clubgti site, but surprisingly have not had any answers!
Anybody who has owned an ageing VW has probably done the job, although they probably have done the full refurb of all the bushes necessitating removal (and subsequent resetting) of all the linkage.
The car is actually a SEAT Cordoba Vario 1.6 1998 (almost a Polo Estate!). Rod change, very Golf like, with the vertical (not horizontal) rubber ball+ arm.
The rubber ball on the gearchange relay shaft has disintegrated leaving the white nylon like core. I have a push fit rubber ball on order.
Can any body tell me if I can withdraw the relay shaft upwards after just removing the clip on the bottom of the shaft. This saves dismantling the clamp etc on the rod and losing all alignment. Should turn it into a nice quick job?
I have posted it as a Golf on the basis that there are very few Cordobas about! It appears that all sorts of things were fitted at around this date - most Polos were cable operated gearchange. But maybe the 1.6 retained the rod set up - it certainly appears in ELSAWin correctly, altho model year is wrong! Read more
hi can somebody help me i have a chrysler voyager and my heater controll is not working when i turn from window to floor or face ect it wont change and eveything els works fine Read more
Moved to Technical where I hope you'll get some replies.
Both the cooling fans work as they should, ie they come on when the car is park and the engine gets hot and also they come on with the aircon. However both fans also come on when the heater distribution control is set to the screen icon? the fans do not come on when it is pointing towards the screen and feet position, when I move the control away from the screen icon the fans stop with in a few seconds. This happens with the engine is both hot and cold and also with the heater temperature control is set to any tempereture. The fans do not come on when the heater fan control is set to 0, it is as though the aircon is coming on when the control is set to demist the screen, should it do this? The temperature gauge is reading as it should and the engine is not overheating. Any ideas???

Thanks for that, mabe you could tell me if both fans should be running? Ive owned the car from new but I only notiecd the fans running this last month.

HI,
I really hope someone can help. My boot wont open.... Read more
Can you get into the boot or remove the back seat to open the boot from the inside?Or maybe a new battery for the key.Or put the key in the ignicion turrn the key dont start the engine push the button on the key untill you hear the buzzer.Could also be a break in the cable between car body and boot lock.I cant think of anything else.

live data in the ecu is the answer to checking the pressure recorderd from the EPT. Is the FAP filter blocked ? this will create excess pressure triggering of a pressure sensor fault and forcing the ECU into limp mode. there are many reasons why a peugeot will go into limp mode so i would suggest finding a good indy with some good diag gear & investigating further.
