Hello,

I'm interested in buying a particular Nissan Almera, and when checking the rear discs I noticed that there is a little lip on the face of the disc, at the outermost point of the disc.... Read more

You're looking for warpage as well. With the lip, personally I would just sand it down! With the caliper, clean them with brake cleaner, apply grease to the piston as per what is detailed in the correct workshop manual.

I’ve found a 54 plate Nissan Almera with 40,400 miles on the clock. The log book has service stamps for circa 6,000 miles, circa 15,000 miles and again at circa 40,000 miles.

Hello, Sam, the sump is a little too small, which could have exacerbated the chain problem, but the stretched timing chain is more an issue with pre 2004 cars and doesn't affect cars on 53 plates onwards. I must admit I have been a bit lazy in the oil checking department, as I am so used to cars that barely use a drop, but will be a bit more vigilant as I didn't realise how small the sump was. However, the Almera will be going soon and, if it wasn't for the gearbox seizing up, I would have stayed with Nissan as in other respects the car has been good.

I have an 1998 Audi A6 quattro avant which has now done 142,000 miles and is the best car I have ever had (and I've been driving since 1947)

The car has just had a new MOT and the cost of necessary repairs was £0... Read more

Can't recommend the Michelins enough. That's all I use now - and they last for ages. I have around 20k to do each year, so I get through the tread well before they are too old.

I drive a car, previously rode a motorbike from Croydon to London Bridge (via Dulwich) and now take the train and a fold up bike.

Personally if I were Boris I would hire a dozen people to stand at random traffic light junctions every rush hour and hand out £30 on the spot fines for bikes jumping red lights. If I were employed I would collect around £600 in fines from other cyclists each morning from my 12 minute cycle ride. It really irritates me when they pile through pedestrians who have a green light - the knock on effect is that everyone is moaning at all cyclists, like all Impreza drivers get tarred......

25% imbalance is the fail point so you may not notice it. I had a car pass with a 24% imbalance. On inspection there was nothing obviously wrong other than both pads and discs were close to the end of their life with one side a bit more worn than the other.

I recently bought an 03 Modeo from a trade company who are part of 'West Yorkshire Trading Standards Motor Trade Partnership for £3000. The price was above what I would have liked to have payed but having the assurance of a 'reputable company' was worth the extra money to me. Plus I'm no car mechanic and thought there would be an extra element of trust.

Before purchasing I took it for a test drive and it drove well. The only issue was a knocking noise on start-up which I was advised was normal for a diesel and it was put in writing that the issue would be fixed. ... Read more

Hi

Does anyone have more information on the reasons for fuse 42 blowing on this car (BKD engine). I've been trying to look up the exact function of this fuse but it seems to vary depending on trim and nothing I've found mentions the parts I'm having trouble with.... Read more

Dr4d

Just to mention that the Haynes manual describes the fuse as 'onboard supply control unit' as are several other fuses.

Anyone know what this blown fuse and no windscreen washers might indicate? I really hope it's not something expensive.

Hello

I had just moved into, what i know now is a bad area recently. I could not move due the flat i moved into was a six month contract.

Within days i started having trouble with kids messing with and pushing over my motorcycle. With this hassle what else could i do to protect my property. So i decided to chain both motorcycles to a lamppost as a last resort hoping this would be the end to any more vandalism. (looking at pictures below) You can see motorcycles are near the road, this is where i would have normally parked them. There are no lines, no signs saying no parking, my motorcycles is not even obstructing pedestrians using pathways.

Anyway due to receiving Penalty Charges of £100 for each motorcycle, i decided to moved both motorcycles back where i had parked them originally. Within a few days my work motorcycle (Red) was stolen, then two nights later someone tried to steal my other bike, and nearly did so and would have if they had better bolt croppers.

For the safety of not having my other motorcycle stolen, i've spoken to neighbors and shop owners, in the hope of renting a garage in the area. I’ve been lucky enough to rent part of the my neighbor's garage to store my motorcycle in.

Do i stand any chance of getting my £200 penalty charges turned over? or am i up the creek without a paddle?

Thanks
