Volkswagen Golf V 2.0 TDI 2005 - Fuse 42 - No washer jets - Dr4d

Hi

Does anyone have more information on the reasons for fuse 42 blowing on this car (BKD engine). I've been trying to look up the exact function of this fuse but it seems to vary depending on trim and nothing I've found mentions the parts I'm having trouble with.

The main symptom seems to be that the washer pump won't function. The rear wiper has also been behaving erratically (coming on randomly or instead of washer jets).

Also, if the key is turned in the ignition and I open the hatch I get messages to say that the rear fog and reversing lights are defective and they will go out if on - is this normal operation or another symptom?

Any help gratefully received - before I start taking the car apart or paying someone else to.

Just to mention that the Haynes manual describes the fuse as 'onboard supply control unit' as are several other fuses.

Anyone know what this blown fuse and no windscreen washers might indicate? I really hope it's not something expensive.
