The traction control fault on my daughters Audi A3 as posted earlier has been rectified by replacing the mass air flow sensor.Several scans all kept saying it was faulty but I could see no reason why that should trigger the traction control light to come on.Anyway it has rectified the problem if it is of any help to anyone. Did the warning light rectify its self or did you have to reset the fault code? I have the traction control warning light on and have just changed the mass air flow sensor (as it was definitely faulty) but the light remains on (admittedly I changed the MAF and started the car for about a minute).
We went to see the new MINI Countryman at a 'launch' event at local dealers yesterday. This was with a view to replacing my wife's car. I have to say I was initially quite shocked to see how big the car is in the flesh - it's a lot bigger and beefier than the other MINI models. But it was nice, very nice. And beautifully built imo. An example in Cosmic Blue with cream leather was simply stunning.
So we sat down with a very friendly and non-pushy salesman and discussed the sort of car we'd want (diesel, part-time 4wd, leather and one or two other options) and the cost of the car came out at £24k. Seems a lot for a car of that size. Not much chance of discount either I would imagine.... Read more
Minis do seem expensive, and you have to be careful with the options list ( I agree £24k is too much for a Mini give what else you can get for that price).
But they hold their value better than most. SWMBO is on her third, on 2-year PCPs, and both the first two were worth 80 % of initial cost after nearly two years....

Driving in essex on 18th September 2010 at approx 10.30pm, from a friends house to a ngiht out. Had an undercover bmw police car behind me did not notice.
I went past a speed camera (30mph) on my side of the road, and then sped off very quickly doing about 55-60mph in a 30mph zone and set off the speed camera on the otherside. The undercover cop chased up and pulled me to the side.... Read more

Have to agree with the above, why some people think they are above the law is beyond me, why some people think its ok to speed in a limited area. i guess most people think that the limit is put there for no reason at all.
Anyone ( the OP included) who speeds in a residential /built up area is a idiot, and deserves anything they get thrown at them.
Should have their licence taken away imo however our law is to soft.
our insurance company wants to charge us £40 for selling our car 10 months into prepaid annual premium. I did not want or expect a refund but hte buyer would want to insure it so i cancelled on the day i sold it/ apart from making money why do they do this they have had 2 months premiums without the need to insure us.the company is Hastings Direct do others do this or just them? Just tell 'em to stuff it! Highly unlikely they'd waste their time taking any action over 40 quid I would think, and I doubt they'd find much sympathy from a court as they're already making 2 months clear profit out of you.
Fiat are bringing out another model with this Gun Metal paint finish.
If you scuff, scratch or do anything to mark the paintwork, you can't do anything with it.... Read more
The Fiat group produce engines, gearboxes and many other parts for many customers including Ford,Opel/Vauxhall,Volvo etc and anybody who is in the know about Italian engineering it is now a world leader in many disciplins.Their cars are some of the best in the world and do not rust unlike some expensive German makes, I myself am running a Bmw at the moment but always drool when I see an Alfa and as far as the paint is concerned a good paint shop will have no problem matching it .
Every time i start the car up i turn the key and it just keeps turning over, smoke comes out of the exhaust, and after about 5 minutes of trying it finally comes back to life, with a big puff of smoke out the exhaust. I spent the best part of the day changing the glow plugs pressuming that that may be the only problem. however it seems that it hasn't solved the issue. these problems have only happened the pass week and i need help asap. any advice would be greatful. its possible its air leaking into the fuel pipes and pump whilst its parked hence the cranking for ages to get the fuel pressure back up. check connectipons around the fuel pipes & the fuel filter. It may not leak diesel out but could well leak air in. If your familiar with fuel flow the easy trick is to use a clear peice of fish tank plastic pipe at various places along the fuel lines & whilst its running if there is an air leak you will see the bubbles along the clear tube! normally check before & after the fuel filter but the plastic pipe has to be a perfect fit otherwise it too will leak air!

Four mistakes and you can lose your licence.
Particular locations I can understand .but how many of these cash cows are standing in positions to make money I am thinking of the safety?speed camara van brigade.
